PS5 or PC ?
Even though I have a decent gaming PC and the price tag will be higher, I'll be playing this on my PS5 hopefully with haptic feedback support as all the souls type games' combat lends itself very well to controller so no need for K&M. Probably due to hardly any ranged weapons and not first person. Hope it's full 4k and 60fps on the PS5 though...

Whichever is more powerful and/or has a better overall experience:
PS5 with OLED TV and Great Sound system - Play there
PC with an RTX and high refresh monitor - play there
I have both and I will play with the DualSense controller on both... But my Monitor and PC are far better 🤷‍♂️

I mean, you can just use your PC on your TV and sound system as well. I have my PC connected to all the devices here. Projector, TV, monitor ... it's not like you have to sit right on top of your PC to use it, especially in Big Screen mode.
Exactly. There is also Steam's in-home streaming, if your PC is far from your TV.

Me!!! I have old Samsung 46" but 1080p. It used for DVD player, but 90% time it is main (and actually only) screen for my wife's PC! And my PC is connected to it too, and sometimes I watch something on big screen... But my PC has main display 27" 1440p 144Hz IPS screen. And as I sit with head like 80cm from screen, this size is more than enough! 32" would be too big (I had for some time 32" screen)...

Yes, 1440p is great for 27". And you can downsample from 4k here. What matters is PPI(pixel density), not screen resolution.

People sometimes are weird. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Look how someone just gave me same award for explanation of how comfortable image resolution actually works.
Could've at last answered, why he thinks I'm wrong. :cuphead:

What matters is how close you sit to the screen VS PPI. Resolution and PPI matter f all if you're not correct distance anyways.

Distance matters as well, yes. But we were talking about PC monitor here. Where default distance is pretty much the same for everyone.

To illustrate: FullHD is alright for 24" monitor. Going higher would only give you a bit more crispness. For 27" FullHD is too low, you clearly see pixels. So you need at last 1440p/2k here.

Like you've said same for TVs, but now you need to put distance in equation.

It is confirmed that PS5 will have to enter 'performance mode' to attain 'up to' 60 fps. This means there will be no 4k, ray tacing, and 60fps on ps5. Ray tracing will be patched in later. Or you can do 'resolution performance mode' which will go down to 'up to 30 fps' and have 4k (fextralife mentioned many sub 30 framedrops). It also mentions scaling back texture details and such.

The '4k' will be checkerbox too...

Question. What does 30 FPS checkerboard mean?

Question. What does 30 FPS checkerboard mean?
Since the PS5 is so weak that it can't run true 4K in 30FPS even, it has to "cheat" by rendering checkerboarded, meaning it cuts out information it assumes you won't notice. In addition, there will be artifacting and you will see cross-patterns on quick-moving games, and only 50% of the pixels are shaded. To "fix" this, sometimes games will add motion blur, which makes the image ... blurry, of course, which defeats the entire point of playing in 4K in the first place. But then you won't notice the artifacting.
So yeah, I'll stick to my trusty good ol' PC.

Checkerboard is a progressive image upscaling technique.
