On what planet is this game similar to Chrono Trigger
Steam reviews are high
Game looks fun but that's just a retro SNES style rpg.
There's a million of em on Steam.
I don't see anything that vibes like CT from the footage.

As well as quite a few easter eggs and NPC's referencing Chrono Trigger. Like the guy saying how nice the mountains are in the Moorlands for example.

and much later, a robotic character doing a certain move (they were like "don't forget to do the thing!" and I got my screenshot key ready ^_^ )

definitely not *only* playing to CT fans; I've seen easter eggs for other games and there's musical and stylistic similarity that has me feeling like I leap from that to Secret of Mana to Terranigma etc etc (without it being a carbon copy of any of them, so it's just nice nostalgic nods throughout)

I'm in the final (?) area and the Soul Curator is reminding me of a certain cowardly villain, I'm just waiting for him to be in a pickle

On what planet? Combat system, combos between characters, map design and movement.

Do you want me to keep going?

Can't forget Mitsuda doing some of the music for the game. Honestly, I haven't beaten it yet(at, but not entered, the final area). There's also the last chapter name(The Fated Hour). I can see the comparisons, and understand why they're made, but there does seem to be something missing. I'm not sure what it is yet. I also could have used some kind of wiki, either in-game or out. Terms and phrases are used without meaning, and I struggle to understand what they mean, while the chars in-game act as if they understand completely. But to get back on topic and away from reviewing it, the similarities are there, regardless of the efficacy of those similarities.

It's probably been compared to Chrono Trigger a lot because Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger's composer) did the music for the game. Since it's also a sprite-based RPG meant to kind of call back to that era of gaming, folks inevitably compare it due to the combo of Yasunori + the sprite styling.

That's my guess at least.

This game is a culmination of all of the 90s JRPGs. Lufia, Mario RPG, FF, Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, Grandia, etc. It's not a combination; it's a testament to those games.

Similarities to Chrono Trigger are clear as day. From traversing the overworld to entering combat, doing combos and having no random encounters.

It also has a similiar map type screen like ROBOTREK or SUPER MARIO WORLD.

More like a Passion Project to exude the feelings from those games. Like to make those who actually played those games in the past to feel it in this game. Also, you forgot ROBOTREK from your list of inspirations as i see alot of that game in this too.

No it's not, it's an insult to those games.

This is most certainly a bait topic. Please don't feed the trolls.

Usually LARS starts these topics. Of course they usually do it on final fantasy games. I have seen them do it on indie rpgs before too.

For example, one post LARS wrote was about a ethnicity in a final fantasy game. I knew it was troll bait.

This guy never played Chrono Trigger before...otherwise, he'd see the similarities between the two.
