Just to know. Is this Steam release kept up to date with official WZ2100 releases?
Or is it a separate branch? Just curious about what differences to expect between both versions (if they are different)
http://steamdb.info/depot/1241953
Itryed to open the port 2100 but doesen't work either... can you guys help me? i love this awsome game
Also make sure that you map 2100 for both TCP and UDP protocols, just in case.
If that fails, you might also want to consider setting up your router to DMZ to your computer (if that is an option on yours)
Did you host from home? Mobile networks (shared by Wi-Fi hotspot) not good for that, cause your phone probably dont have IP address (NAT). In that case you cant host.
But i dont understant, my friend said that when he host a game.
This mesage shows ''Unreacheable game, fail to connect to port 2100''.
But we used our IP adress, and i can connect VIA IP.
BUT(For the third time) i tryed to host via IP, and dont worked at all... what does it mean? i opened the ports in my firewall, even created new ones with no restriction... ♥♥♥♥.
I dont know what is happening.
There is no issues for exactly Steam version - it 1:1 from devs site. MAIN version.
Did you read what posted on that issues? It not an issues at all or KNOWN issues from previous ... again, MAIN... version. And there is a lot more known issues.
If you see squares - u did something wrong. Game start with OS languages or in english. Game have fonts files for asian sybols even of Win do not have it. Steam version work same as portable (if not count Steam itself).
Resurrection - only alternative to two existed only official versions - by Eidos on PC nd on PSX.
Steam version do not have legal issues same as old Desura release. And do not have differences. it just alternative repository to download same versions, just like on Linux. It only about our "publisher" and how he will keep game up-to-date. (and hes not porbably, same as Linux repositories, Desura release and sometimes wz2100net devs itself - im talk about Mac\Lin builds that still not released here).
Game very long time be on sale in Microsoft Store (cant find right now) for 1 USD - and that illigal release (cause game use 2 license type and at least one of them do not allow resale, that license from only some contributors but they work still used by game).
I would instead encourage people that disagree with this version being on Steam to report it. Posting bad reviews or discussion threads isn't really gonna do much.
Personally I appreciate the fact it's on Steam, just the way it's made to look like it's the official thing - while it's not - just looks wholly unprofessional and quite frankly really disrespectful to those who have invested countless hours to keeping this project alive.
The fact that even mentioning this - which is a very valid concern is considered "unnecessary drama" speaks just for how unprofessional this really is.
The game code and assets are open source, no one "officially" owns it.
Also report to Steam for what exactly, nothing illegal or being breached here.
Also note that it clearly does list "Warzone 2100 Project" aka wz2100.net as developers on the store page and link to the site.
If they don't want any links to their site/project then I will be happy to remove them in the next push if that is what they want.
*Again, official latest version is 1.10.
Yeah, all you did was post the link to their GitHub. You do not make it clear that this upload is not endorsed by the community actively developing it. Thus it is easily interpreted as the official thing - which it is not.
That's not even remotely how open source works, the fact that you've been able to upload this to Steam with such little understanding and respect of how open source content works and is redistributed shows just how disrespectful you are.
Just because something is "open source" doesn't mean you're free to do whatever with it, there's still a bunch of licenses involved.
To me it feels very obvious that all you wanted was to slap your little gaming community's name on there as a developer and publisher for some kind of ego boost more than anything else. Which is why this may be in violation of the GNU GPL license as well.
It's not that they don't want their names on there, from what I can tell, they want it made clear that this is not endorsed by the people that are working on the original and thus 'official' version.
It really is disgusting and despicable just how little respect you have for those that have invested countless hours to keep this thing running and up-to-date.
This is just another case of this[i.imgur.com] going on. As is tradition with open source releases, sadly.
Again, I appreciate that it's on Steam and in a playable state - but at least state on the store page that it's not endorsed by them.
I don't think anyone is suggesting not to link to the open-source project. 🤷♂️
The least the person who put this on Steam could do is give control of this Steam page to the people who actually work on it, so that they can support it. I'm not sure what anyone stands to gain by not doing that tbh.
