(that experience has made me not at all inclined to want to spend money on the MS store if I don't know if I can even access it in the future, when Microsofts own updates can break it)
Steam works, I buy stuff easily and download it and it just downloads without errors and it just works.
Also, wouldn't mind unencrypted files for modding potential (does MS still encrypt on their store?), I liked modding Halo Wars 1 on Steam and trying out some community made ones.
So, Halo Wars 2 on steam would be wonderful and just a more hassle-free experience.
But still, Halo Wars 1, happy birthday, a very fun RTS I enjoyed for the first time when it came onto steam, cool giveaway with the genesis graphic novel and nice pictures.
The Microsoft Store is slow, annoying, tedious, and uncustomizable. You can't even choose a specific install location for apps or games you download, forced to use whatever folders it feels like creating on the drive you select. You can't throttle download speeds, you can't modify the game files in any way, and it simply lacks the plethora of quality-of-life features and the community-building that makes Steam as popular as it is.
Steam is a full-featured digital gaming platform, but the Microsoft/Xbox app is just a simple tool to download and play games.
