But what can be done about it? For one thing, it's a bad idea to force a 50/50 win rate. I personally hate that. Whoever thought of that, and why it became a thing in so many online games today is a mystery. Then again, games need players. And a game like this (and others like it) that doesn't have the biggest player base will give you lesser skilled players to fill in for the ones that left (and if there are few online).
Is it a good idea to find the quickest solution? The closest available player so to speak, or should the system wait for someone with a similar skill level?
It's better to spend some time finding people who are close to your skill level and group up nowadays. That is the only way to avoid feeling the need to write these kinds of posts. And to have fun.

if you want to see how bad it is, you can sign into halowaypoint, click on your profile on the top right, click on service record, click on halo infinite, and click on stats and scroll down. you'll see your expected kills and deaths highlighted for every single game you play. if you overperform the expected kills on the graph, you'll see the sbmm system instantly punish you in the next game for that, and if you underperform, you'll see the sbmm hand you a bunch of kills next game.
heres what mine looks like: https://imgur.com/4Y070Uk
I don't think that's exactly how it's working. You aren't severely overperforming or underperforming the algorithm's predictions. Like, it looks like the algorithm is pretty accurate actually.
I think it's just comparing the ranks of the players you're matched against and predicting off that. Doesn't look like rigging to me- but I'm not saying the matchmaking is fantastic or anything.

Look at what Max Hoberman says, that's how it should be. Luckily Halo still has the most lenient system if your a good player, but it's rage inducing if you care about winning.
It doesn't work like this at all.
Bro sounds like a bot, You should be able to play pvp without a group of players. You sound you suck and are happy good players get punished. This is another why people dont come back to halo. SSBM will kill fps. You are the king yapping about nothing. Halo is game where you can sit down and not sweat your ass off. And have great time with people or without. Halo 5 understood that and so did the old halo.
The mindset you have is what is wrong with FPS gaming today. Solo Play is very important for the longevity games and brings a good balance for people. What's the point of playing with friends when they are forced to play against players outside their skill and get absolutely ♥♥♥♥ on. EOMM is what has ruined playing FPS games with you're friends. No more having fun no more having a good time with you're friends.
Saying stop playing video games is such a small brain mindset to have. When someone cares about something they should be able to talk about the issue. That is how you get the problem to be noticed and resolved.
But saying "StOp PlaYinG" is the worst thing to do for a game and franchise you care about.
the problem is how its finding those people. every single time i have a peak game, theres immediately a fall. i played a lot of games today with a friend and you can see how it ramps up and down on my performance rather than my friend's who bottom fragged almost every game

Matchmaking is designed in collaboration with psychologists and economists to make you win and lose exactly enough matches to manipulate you into spending optimal hours playing and dollars on cosmetics to maximize profitability while minimizing server costs or time without sufficient players online.
The role you've been designated is to carry people who are ♥♥♥♥ at the game. The alternative would be dedicated servers run by fans, and you might risk encountering problematic or triggering language or even unauthorized fan-made content if you went down that route. Be grateful Microsoft is letting you have this experience.
