Let's set this once and for all. I've seen so many dumb arguments threw around here that I'm amazed how some people fail to see the problem.

1 - It's not about the cosmetics themselves. It's about progression. There's virtually no form of progression whatsoever in this game. Which is fine. I know OG gamers don't care etc etc. Fact is younger folks do care about progression. Even so, a game like Halo 3 had progression in form of EXP points. There is NOTHING to look forward to after finishing a match in this game, let alone a reason to finish a match as the best scorer. No progression -> most people have no reason to play (not you, you are an OG player who doesn't care about progression) -> the game bleeds players. And you should be concerned that the game bleeds players.

2 - Making cosmetics costs time/effort/money. All the time/effort/money they put into making cosmetics could go into developing the actual game, improving mechanics, fixing bugs, adding maps and gamemodes. But no, it has to go into making cosmetics that maybe 0.1% of the playerbase will buy and enjoy. So you should be concerned that the developers decide to make cosmetics instead of developing your game.

INB4:
- "bbbbbbut its freeeeeeeeeee". So we have to have a sub par halo multiplayer experience, and we should be fine with that because it's free?
- "back in my day, we didnt need any progression/cosmetics". Good on you. But have you read my post?
- "just buy the battlepass". Some people are not fine with spending 10$ per season ON TOP of paying for the campaign full price. Also, have you read my post?
- "just get a job lmao". Again, have you read my post?
- "making cosmetics doesn't take much time nor money". Source on that? I'm sure M$ will pour the vast majority of the budget for the game into the stuff that actually makes them money, not into stuff that it's available for free to all the players.

As an "OG Gamer," I actually do care about progression systems. Or, more specifically, unlockables. Which is what "cosmetics" used to be called, before marketers and focus groups had the bright idea to label them something that makes them sound superficial and unimportant, while paradoxically simultaneously placing a monetary value on them.

They're "just cosmetics" and don't matter. Please give us money for them.

The sad irony is, "back in my day," we had progression and cosmetics. In all sorts of games, not just games with online multiplayer. Because they existed before ubiquitous online gaming. They were called unlockables. And we earned them simply by playing both single player and multiplayer in games. And then we could use them in both. Because customization was considered a selling point at one time.

So I'm not sure why "old school players" make this argument personally. I agree with you more than I do with them. (Well... in principle at least. In practice, I've long since given up resisting these things, because it's abundantly clear they're here to stay sadly and no one cared enough back when we might have nipped it all in the bud to stop any of it. It's much too late now. As such, I just take what I can get these days. Hence playing this on Game Pass and ignoring multiplayer entirely. Perhaps your generation will avoid becoming as jaded as mine has. One can hope.)

Game is working fine tho, not sure why you're making that point. There is separate teams who work on cosmetics, gamemodes and maps. Everyone is responsible for something, so that point doesn't really make sense.

If you think this game is buggy you should've seen Forza Horizon 5 when it released lol

I agree with alot of this. you can't just tell people to not be pissed off when a feature they've come to love in previous title is now being restricted some people just play wow to transmog imagine if blizzard suddenly said transmogs are no longer earnable in game you must purchase them i don't think that would sit well with that community and guess what say goodbye to more players and they will say the use to love the game. I don't think halo is a sole esport driven game like alot of the community believe it is. It never has been just competitive its been about the lounge room and the friends you play with.

While i think this is rough for the launch I think there are more pressing issues Forge and co-op being missing at december 8th is gonna probably hurt this game more then anything else because until may 100% of the new content has to come from 343 themselves I don't know how they can develop these systems and satisfy the community at the same time, new game modes in matchmaking can only wet peoples lips when they smell the chef cooking. there is gonna be no community driven content in this game for some where close to 8 months.

The gaming worlds eyes are on halo right now that window is only open so long before its shuts, in that 8 month time an indie developer could come out with a cult hit and just like that any halo news gets brushed to the side and the new flash thing is what everyones raving about and halo again gets relegated to MCC status people drift in and drift out no one hangs around.

They won't just focus on the cosmetics and blatantly ignore everything else, it's Microsoft we are talking about, a multi billion dollar company and all of their games are actually good.
