Is the game optimization that bad?
I have a 3060 laptop with an 11th gen i7. I run the multiplayer fine on high so I was assuming I wouldn’t have any issues with the campaign but I see posts about some having issues, are these isolated or is anyone else gaming on a similar setup without issues?

Yes it is that bad. People who say otherwise are liars OR they are using the dynamic resolution setting which lowers your resolution to 720p or even lower to meet the minimum fps you set it at. It looks ♥♥♥♥.

I have a 3080 with a 8700k and 16Gb ram, the game installed on a M2 ssd and playing it at 5120x1440. In open areas I barely hit 55 fps oh high which is absolute garbage. A 3070 or a 3060ti should be able to run this game 90 fps at 1440p no problem but it isn't the case.

Wait for a patch to fix the performance, meanwhile, don't waste your time on this mess.
I woudn't expect a patch that cleans this up in any significant way to be honest. This game was delayed for a reason. this is the first time this engine has utilized an open settings. its why the game works really well in the linear missions.

4k ultra on a 3080 it'll drop out in the open world to the 40's occasionally but if i set the min and max frames to 60 it dynamically changes the resolution slightly without any loss in visual fidelity, at least that i can tell
take this advice. utilize the dynamic resolution to help this game perform better. make sure vsync is selected otherwise it won't work on the couple GPU's ive tested on.

I am using this and the in game FPS meter always shows 60, but if i pan the camera, its jerky, (not unplayable but noticae).

Even minimum settings at 30 fps locked 30/30 i see the same jerks.

the other option is to go polar opposite and set min to off, max to unlimited and unselect vsync. This will completely unlock your fps and is another way to get rid of the juddery camera. the juddery camera is a very weird problem. Because even if I get the game to run locked at 120fps the camera will still judder without the right settings selected. Out of the two options, one of these has worked for me each time. either fully engaged dynamic resolution, or completely unlocked fps.

I haven't tried full unlock, no vsync. Will give that a shot tonight. I can live a bit of tear.

(Now that ypu mention this my monitor may not actually be 60 but like 59.##.

I remember DF mentioning this as a problem 343 didn't account for in the port.)

RTX 3070, overclocked, hitting 60-70fps with medium-high graphics

A patch is our only hope. If it can't be fixed, which I agree with you, is probable, I just won't bother with that game.
That's said by a dude who took a day off from work to play this garbage the next day after they released it. Dumb move since I saw it coming.

Edit: I play with min fps off and max fps unlocked, can barely hit 60 in open areas, with a lot of stutters on a 240 hz gsync screen.

60 is a rounded off number. its usually 59.6 or something in reality.

I can run unlocked because my monitor is set to 120fps in my control panel (its actually a 144hz monitor).

I used to play WoW, that’s why I don’t take days off to play new releases anymore.. haha. I hope this can be patched, I don’t know why it couldn’t be as there have been performance fixing patches for previous games that have been released over time, or to at least make it a little more playable. I think.. correct me if I’m wrong.

The game is a damn CPU hog !

It was using 90% of my Ryzen 5 3600 and barely 60-65% of my GTX 1660 SUPER.

The devs need to release a patch soon that fixes performance because the game needs some serious optimization.

What's even more weird is in multiplayer i get 70 FPS... in campaign it struggle to keep 50-60 FPS... that's just dumb as hell for a game to do that. :steamfacepalm:

A perfect case is Horizon Zero dawn. It was fixed with patches. But it was broken with GPU memory utilization and bad code. This game works great but is taxing on resources, Its not broken for people. Knowing this along with the delays i'm willing to bet 343 is having problems with their engine in the open world. Look how good the game performs in the linear missions. its excellent. Yes a patch might free up more resources for FPS, but I don't see it making it run at twice the performance (which people are looking for based on reading their posts about hardware vs fps vs resolution).

Haha, I used to take a week off to play new Wow releases back then. Let's just hope they don't take too long to fix their mess.

About that, the game's textures are low res at that mode for me with a 2080 Ti, I'm not sure about the rest of y'all but it annoys me how poor texturing is so I turned it off. Of course it's not as smooth anymore but I manage avg 40 to 45 outisde with High to Ultra settings at 4K

not for me and a laptop is bad for anything.
what decade are you living in ? I'm a desktop gamer but to call laptops bad for gaming is incredibly insane in 2021.

not at all, they are bad for gaming, at least the worst option you have (desktop/console objectively better), if you don't know that, you're not really a desktop gamer...........
Tiasmoon 9/dez./2021 às 12:00
Or maybe they lack experience with laptops? These days there's a lot of games that can be played well on laptop, but to say they are comparable in performance to desktops is.. yeah.
king_of_jamaica 9/dez./2021 às 12:02
CPU Performance seems pretty bad if you've got the GPU to match. I have a Ryzen 3700X and 2060 Super, so my CPU is actually doing well so far. The game spreads over most of the threads(at most 14 for some reason, sometimes 13), and the highest core usage I've seen is about 75%.

The problem is that at 1440p, my GPU is pinned to 98% usage which drops the core clock to 1750MHz.

For a game that looks as mediocre as this game does, I don't see any reason why GPU usage should be so high. It's not like I'm trying to match the Xbox Series X here. I'm using the DF optimized settings at 1440p, so I don't think I should be having that much trouble hitting 1440p60.
