sometimes ea log you out, yah it still linked, but u need to log in again, and when you do, it automatically log in for numbers of time. happened in other launchers too like rockstar
I had EA started, I had it started on my account from Steam and obviously was logged it. I even tried to start a game FROM EA. So no, it's not VERY SIMPLE. It has dozen DIFFERENT causes, and if that one worked for you, it doesn't mean it works in any case and for everybody
yeah thats all i know i need a fix for this issue too
All I tried through this month is
1) re-check game, it re-installs punkbuster
2) install punkbuster manually on top of it
3) re-install ea app
4) as person above mentions re-login to ea app
5) re-install or update your video card drivers (nvidia drivers in my case)
it's probably not the full list. And each time it was a different cause, I had to do all of this in different combinations at least 4 times - first punkbuster was obsolete, then punkbuster was obsolete again because devs applied their own update which broke punkbuster again, so I updated punkbuster again, then ea app was obsolete and did not update on it's own, then I dunno, maybe game added some optimization dependent on latest drivers so it stopped working with older drivers - I found some old forum post with logs from windows log manager (yeah, game itself don't generate any error logs like any indie game does, and you need to go deep into native windows stuff and look for game errors there) that were mentioning some drivers error and poster said updating drivers worked for him, so I tried that and it worked.
try removing game completely, then try logging off both from steam and ea, then re-install them and re-login and re-install the game.
I just had this issue this morning and thats how I was able to get the game to run each time.
1. go to Punkbuster web (btf4 anticheat) and download the latest version
2. run it and add as game BTF4
3. launch the game, probably still stuck but now will show "installing scrip" or something lik that
4. go task manager find punkbuster and click "bring to front"
5. acept license agreement and then launch BTF4 to finally play and realice what u are looking for is not a frenetic fps gameplay but the nostalgic feeling
i hope this helps
+ be sure to have Visual C++ 2013 also installed
got punkbuster kicked alot in multiplayer so 2) i installed pbsetub, i added bf4 to punkbuster setup and updated it then ran pnkbstA and B, now it works online too
when i open it tru steam it crashes and freezes so 3) i press ctrl + shift + tab ,to go to task manager, and i end batlefield4 then i run it tru steam again for a second time and it works fine the second time always (i have win 10 , nvidia graphics and physX on my laptop's GeForce 920M
took me like 2 hours to get it to run ok -ish
i also make sure i have nothing open just steam, msi afterburner at 23fps and batlefield cause when im listenin to music or watchin videos on the background it crashes on startup while loading into mainmenu. & runs great, multiplayer almost 24/7 alive
