BF1 is good to play once a month or so maybe for the somewhat interesting WW1 stuff (planes, horses, etc...), but doesn't have the same replay strength IMO
BF4 for solid replay value
BF4 obviously has more level interaction but needs the "Pull Up" player mechanic because there's so many eye-leveled objects you could stand on or use to escape from a ground level threat. Customization features for infantry and vehicles are better because it's modern. However there is an equiptment unbalance in the Recon class like the UCAV which frankly defeats anti-air and mortar capabilities that the Enginner and Support class is known for. A stamina bar could also help, deter some of the bunny hoping that occurs. Maps though are legendary.
Final thoughts? BF1 has better player mechanics; while BF4 has better gear customization. The new Battlefield needs to branch both games and polish or remove some of the implementations. Would be interesting to see an aircraft carrier being used instead of just a said spawn point.
But
BF 1 is in looks better but is in WW1 2 off the games are Good
