In terms of how frequently you encounter them, I myself only really see one or two a day at most and they're usually banned within a few minutes, and generally don't ruin the experience compared to how numerous they are in BF1
There aren't any official servers anymore hosted by DICE themselves, however that's probably for the best since the normal anti cheat isn't very good and people can get around it rather easily (see BF1), but there are plenty of 3rd party servers (clan/group servers/privately owned, whatever you'd call them) and have 3rd party anti cheat like Ditty said above that's a lot better at banning cheaters, also admins can manually ban people for the few that slip through the cracks, usually within a few minutes
Any cheaters that don't get banned within the 1st round I tend to just leave the server and hop on a different one, and that's about the most "extreme" measure you'll need to take in this game to avoid them since there's not that many
One thing I want to mention about some very very rare instances though: On some of the smaller 3rd party servers there are cheaters who don't get banned who can basically ruin the match for multiple rounds on end, and even if you report them to the admins and it gets acknowledged they're still there the next day, is that some admins actually cheat on their own servers with alt accounts and just add never bans the account (there's a way to find out by the use of a certain unnamed 3rd party tool) and you're basically at their mercy. I've only experience this 4 times in 5+ years of playing though so don't let that dissuade you, it's just something to be mindful of. Just blacklist the server/don't join them anymore and you'll be set
Currently any of the TBG, BZ (Banzore), and APEX servers are all clean in my experience and usually have multiple different admins so you won't experience that kinda stuff ever, plus usually have a guy on in the afternoons to manually ban cheaters quickly. Currently there's only 1 server group that's still alive (barely lmao) that I know of that has an admin who does cheat frequently the last time I played on it, so it's unlikely you'll run into them to begin with (I'm not allowed to name them because steam's name and shame TOS covers that, all I'll say is it's one of the groups that hosts a metro 24/7 server)
IMO it's worth a play if you don't have BF4 on PC yet, usually the premium edition is cheap every steam/EA sale so I'd def say grab a copy
after 1400 plus hours ive only seen maybe 4 cheaters and they got banned during the game.
the newer players always think anyone better is cheating same as all other online games
So Play on official servers face one or two very obvious cheaters, and likely the hoard of level 140 sweats with the Controler+Jump+ ADS marco.
we had a guy like you on our team and in every game we played every time he died he called cheats we finally had to kick him from our group it was unbearable
barely any hacking and good admin tools to kick players by other player.
beware though, one server have an admin where he constantly player Heli gunner and try to put himself at an advantage.
