You have lost connection to the session
So I bought bf4 on steam (because it's my favorite game) even though I already have this on Origin.

When ever I try to join into any server it says "Joining server..." for like 10 seconds and then I get the error message "You have lost connection to the session", and when I click OK the "Joining server..." doesn't disappear. I got this working trough the troubleshooting on Origin but I can't do a troubleshoot on steam games for some reason. Bf1 didn't have this problem. And I did try EA's Connection troubleshooting and it didn't help at all.

Same problem for me. I didn't buy it on steam. I reinstalled it directly from Origin. I keep getting that lost connection message or sometimes it says I am kicked by admin when simply trying to connect to the server. I didn't have this problem on two occasions when I tried a quick match on obliteration and domination. But in those cases, the game hadn't started yet because of not enough players. I saw some other people on a different battlefield forum who have the same problem. I don't know what to do about it.

Did some more testing. I choose multiplayer-quickmatch-large scale battles. 1) It gives me a zavod 311 conquest screen. After a minute it says: you have been banned from this server. 2) Next try. I get again zavod 311 conquest screen. After a minute I am able to deploy and play. It says waiting for players. 1/4 players ready. I take a vehicle, drive around for a bit, start taking possession of a point and then I get the message: "you have lost connection to the session" and I am out again. 3) Next try I get the message: matchmaking failed, could not find a suitable game. 4+5) Same again two more times. 6) I disable my antivirus, but it gives me the same matchmaking failure again. 7) With my antivirus disabled I go into multiplayer server browser and try to join a server with 61/64 players (Golmud Railway) and after a few seconds I get the message: 'you have lost the connection to the session'. 8) Same thing happens when trying to connect to a 10/64 server for Shanghai.

On the other hand, test range works without any issues.

I have been playing this game in the past, last time was maybe one or two years ago (?) without any issues. I can't remember that I was ever banned from any server.

EDIT: I manually installed punkbuster now and deleted all old battlefield folders. These are some tips I found to solve this problem. I did manage to play some games now with only a handful of players. I still get the same lost connection messages on servers with a high number of players. One time I played on a locker server with about 10 players on my team, I get kicked by admin after dying 3 times. I only used gun. I have no idea why they would kick me. Then my last attempt: I do quickmatch-conquest large. I get into a game without about 10 people on my side. I take a tank, start going to the first objective and ... I get the loading screen and the message that I have been banned from this server. Maybe someone was able to hack into my account and did suspicious things with it, so that I am getting banned by some servers?? I don't know.

go to files where you can see bf4 and BFLauncher (just to be sure do this to both of them) right click on them and go to properties > compatibility and check the compatibility mode box and click on that use button and ok (mine is in Finnish: Käytä so im not sure what it is in English)

this should work if not then im sorry that i couldn't help you

Congratulations. Unfortunately I don't have a compatibility tab in those files. I found an alternative way to run a compatibility test through a troubleshooter in windows 10, but it didn't help me. I ran the game in windows 8 this way, with exactly the same problems.

I had the same problem when I played BF4 3 months ago. In-game, I used to get ,,Lost connection to the server" all the time so I tried the server browser on the battlelog website. There, I found out I was getting a specific error, something about port 3659. I looked for a fix and I found this ytb video https://youtu.be/SyGdXJZJBYQ . I suggest you try the website and see which error you get because this one is pretty common.

I had this exact problem, try opening up Origin, click Origin in the top left hand of the application, go to Origin in game and disable Origin in game
