BF5 not starting

I owned BF5 on Origin, but wanted it on Steam to play with a friend there. Uninstalled completely on Origin and reinstalled on Steam. Would not start (press Play -2 seconds, reverts back to Play) - have set as 'run as admin'
Un-link Origin from Steam and create new Origin and link to Steam (to get rid of any link to old BF5). Same result as above, still does not start, and I hope I've not broken my other EA games now!!
Not sure what to do next, each uninstall and reinstall is 3+ hours!! What else can I do before I try and refund.

Have you tried using the task manager? sometimes the game are still open there.

Same, tried all the solutions you find on the internet (drivers, overlays, running as admin) and nothing works.

Same problem. I have 26 hours on steam in bf5. Today the game just stopped working.

do you have the backup of the coduments folders enables with one drive? if yes make right click on the bfv folder in documents and tell it to always keep it on the pc, for some reason if the are on the drive the game is not allowed to download the folder and simply won't start

I got mine to work. But I basically started from scratch. Uninstalled Origin, Uninstalled BF5 from Steam, deleted the game folders, then reinstalled the game through Steam, and reinstalled Origin. Game works now for me.

I've done this but still not working, I even uninstalled the Origin and when I reinstall, the launcher won't install

Verify you game files and it will should fix start up i did and bingo as after minimising my game it got stuck and would not restart what ever i tried until l VERIFIED

Firstly you can link with anybody from any platform in many ways, really the simplest is just sharing the match you are joining, so playing with Steam friends doesn't require launching from Steam.

Secondly, for Steam based launch, you will need to have Origin open BEFORE you launch from Steam.

Finally, the most recent patch for Steam has made the EA App the launcher now, so swopping fully to that might solve your issue.
