Battlefield™ V
Is this game now mining bitcoin as i play or something? (If yes, can i have some?)
Seriously, i use to play this game on a i5-3570, no freezing or framedrops at all back then.

I'm currently playing on a Ryzen 3 4100 (similar to a i7-6700k or ryzen 5 1400) and during gameplay, out of nowhere it freezes for 2 seconds, stutters sometimes and but usually drop framerate.

I have the same issue with Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 2042 but not on Battlefield 3/4.

>Yes, i have the anti-cheat updated, repaired then uninstalled and installed then repaired before updating it, same thing, nothing changes.

This seems to only occurs on 4 cores 8 threads CPUs as the i5-10400f, Ryzen 5 5600g and Ryzen 7 5700g don't have this issues, with the exception of frame drops.

My full specs:
Ryzen 3 4100 4.0ghz
2x8gb RAM DDR4 3200mhz
RTX 4060 8gb
(BFV is installed on my second SATA SSD, Temps. are usually 55ºC/131ºF on CPU and 40ºC/104ºF on the GPU)

are you using DX11 or DX12? you say you have fps drops, that happens on dx12, because it downloads shaders as you play I think, idk im not expert, but if you play on dx12 try switching to dx11, you will probably have less fps, but the gameplay should be smoother than on DX12, you can also try turning on future frame rendering, you will have bigger input lag but the FPS should be similliar to DX12

I've tried playing using both modes but is still pretty much the same thing, although, much worse on DX12 as you mentioned because of the shader compilation thing.
Idk man, this didn't use to be a thing for me and it only happens on BF1 and BFV, it actually freezes more on BF1 than on BFV which doesn't even make any sense.
I'll wait until there's some new update for the anticheat, i love these games too much to just abandon them.
but you had no problems on your old CPU? what about CPU usage isn't it hitting 100%?

So, i replaced my whole kit because after the EA Anticheat update, that cpu (i5-3570) couldn't run the game properly without having the same issues.
I bought this ryzen upgrade kit and the game was running fine until recent anticheat updates.
The cpu usage is usually 50% to 64% but suddenly hits 100%, freezing the game while there's nothing really happening during gameplay, so i'd assume is not the game but the anticheat.
Again, that really can't be solely the CPU's fault as it should be perfectly capable of running the game smoothly since BFV recommends a ryzen 3 1300x while i have a ryzen 3 4100 which is 37% faster.

Also, i do have optimized my windows 10, so there's no background apps or bloatware that would suddenly ask that much from my cpu.
Do you use Disable Fullscreen Optimization for bf5? If yes check if it's still on, because apparently the anticheat update unchecks this option after the anticheat update.
i don't get fps drops, sometimes it runs at 15-16GB RAM but most of the time it runs 18-21GB, I think this started after the anti-cheat update, so, if you have 16GB installed then maybe it's trying to use it all-and-more . . . i have 32GB

if you wonder what i use to see the system stats, i have one of these (£20 on eBay): https://www.turzx.com/

Nope, unfortunately it made no difference.
The solution will be an upgrade of my CPU, i'm planning on getting a ryzen 7 5700x3D, but i just feel like not playing it anymore, but still, thank you for trying to help!

16gb (2 sticks of 8gb) on my end is just fine, it doesn't really reach 13gb of usage. It is 100% the CPU as i've mentioned.

Weird. Im on 1080p @ 180hz, high settings (not max), Dx11, lock the game to 90 fps and double those to almost stable 180fps with Losless Scaling`s frame generation. Runs like a charm, smooth asf.
5600x | 6700xt | 32GB @3600 installed on NVME
Turns out the issue was the new Nvidia APP, atleast in my end.
After uninstalling the new version of it, the freezes and sudden FPS drops simply disappeared (atleast the FPS drop is gone on BF1, still happens a bit on BFV but still playable).
Just like i've said, it seemed more like an issue with 4 cores and 8 threads CPU or lower, which does seems to be the case but on my end, disabling the Nvidia APP and its overlay was the fix.
damn I never would have thought that NVIDIA APP would do that, maybe NVIDIA APP has problem with AMD CPU, but atleast you found a way to fix it

Crazy, right? i heard about this thing on Tom's Hardware's twitter and i couldn't believe after testing, although, seems like the old version of the overlay (Geforce Experience) doesn't have that problem.
To be more precise, the issue is the filter mode and photo mode, which weren't even being used but if disabled, you could still use the nvidia app without having this problem.
