SSD's are fairly cheap these days, On a local PC supply company's website in the UK they sell 2TB M.2 SSD's for like £130.
To be honest I think you'd fare better with an SSD for quicker load times and less chance of texture streaming bottlenecking
That's for a 2TB, mind..
I'd wager that even a 512GB would be a LOT cheaper than that, All I can suggest is to shop around and look for bargains, But don't buy Used drives, You've no idea how close to the end of its life it will be.
