Controller not being detected?

I know it sounds weird but I wanna try this game out with my Xbox One pad. It doesnt seem to detect it, regardless if i use a cable or bluetooth connection.

Has anyone managed to encounter this problem?

Well I have played all 3 Dead Space games with an xbox 360 controller, so it certainly has controller support.

Well, I guess I worded the thread wrong. It's more that it's not detecting my controller.

I do see the option for enabling controllers, but it's not picking up mine for some reason.

I went into controller settings and selected FORCED OFF and restarted the game and it now works just like it did on xbox

I can't find any option that covers controller settings, just controllers. Even then, i dont see the FORCED OFF option like you said.

In Steam, go to controller Configs for Dead Space 3. The game is automatically set to mouse and keyboard. Go into the controller settings and chose the standard controller template. It works for me just fine.

Oh boy - OK so it is not really that, maybe it used to be? This is how to do it now:
Right-click on the game in the library->Properties->General->"Steam Input Per-Game Setting (Requires restart of game)" set to Forced Off

I can disable input, but for some reason it doesn't seem to change much. The game keeps trying to force mouse/keyboard. sometimes the xbox prompts appear, but they quickly change to PC. Then the controller buttons overlap with PC and I can't use stasis as it fires the gun for whatever reason
