Steam Version Won't launch
I bought this game at launch on what was then Origin. That version works.

Now I bought it on Steam... but it won't launch and the EA app doesn't seem to be aware that I have the Steam version.

If you have the game installed twice via both EA and Steam, the steam shortcut will open up the EA version (which won't count towards play time on Steam.) If it is only installed via Steam, you get an error and it won't even start.

I think the game wasn't ported Steam properly so even the Steam version looks in the Origin registry (rather than the Steam registry) and if it doesn't find the game there, it doesn't start.

Do you research before buying then. :baa:
Amazingly I've got this to easily run with Origin by using this guide. :winter2019happybulb:

Btw, thanks a heap bunch for sharing your baseless rant with us all upon Christmas day. I'm 'dead sure' that it meant a lot to us all who tend to cruise both these games forums sections. [/sarcasm]

To whom it may concern. The above ^ is a troll post containing a link to a guide about how to unlock achievements in a DIFFERENT GAME... supposedly by downloading files including an exe from an unofficial source (obviously an unsafe practice).

It is NOT a guide for how to get Mass Effect Andromeda working.

I also think it's amusing that this guy thinks that December 24th is "Christmas Day". :steamfacepalm:

Apparently you're simply too 'IQ challenged' to read past that guide's way to get back Origin working, even if its from Mass Effect: Legendary Edition it'll still work because its aim is to get Origin working back again instead of the current EA (Cr)App. :baa:

As "amusing as it may seem" your OP was edited already in the 25th. :steamfacepalm: But even despite that crude fallacy attempt most of us know that most people tend to celebrate Christmas from the 24th night's eve into the 25th's midnight. :steambored:

If my post was such a "troll post" then why you simply didn't reported it and move on? Opps, apparently naming and shaming is your biggest asset... which also tends to be a upon the troll's usual repertoir.

And your reply simply tells me that my initial hunch was correct... you were trying to provoke folks into falling into your troll's bonfire to start a flame baiting slinging and then report those as if you were the innocent part. Such a 'brilliant idea' that it simply fused since its inception. :winter2019tiredbulb:
Thy farewell, btw.

No actually, normal people do NOT refer to December 24th as "Christmas day". :cozybrawlhalla1:

People who cant' work out something as basic as that shouldn't call others "IQ challenged".

The game doesn't run and it's extremely unlikely that downloading an exe file from an unofficial source as described in a page about how to get ACHIEVEMENTS in a DIFFERENT GAME working is going to fix that.

You know that as well as I do but as you already clarified by putting personal abuse into literally every one of your posts, you don't actually care about the game; you are just here to call names and seek attention.

Good day sir.

The version of this game sold via the EA app (previously known as origin) actually works.

However, if you uninstall the Origin version and install the version bought via Steam, it won't start.

For some reason the Steam version still thinks it's the EA version and searches for files in the EA app installation rather than in the Steam installation.

As far as I know, all EA games bought from Steam still require EA App to function...and to get them work can be challenging. I only own MEA through Steam, so this might not work for you, but I do own MELE on both apps and currently run it successfully from Steam.

So, first things first.
Make sure you have EA App installed and that it is updated and running, also make sure you have uninstalled the EA App version of MEA and all the files related to it, before starting MEA on Steam, and after launching the game from Steam, check the EA App to see if it wants to do something with the game before it actually launches.

If that does not work then:
!. Uninstall MEA on both EA App and Steam.
2. Delete all remaining files and mods.
3. Reinstall MEA on Steam.
4. Reinstall and apply mods.
5. Update the EA App (download it from EA website and repair the installation).
6. Open Mod app, Steam and EA App.
7. Start MEA from Steam.
8. Watch EA App do its things (can take a while, like a minute or two or more)
9. The game should now start and its status on EA App should be "accessed through Steam"

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks! I'll try the Steps above.

If it still doesn't work for you look into Windows Security -> App & browser control -> Exploit protection settings and check if you have "Force randomisation for images (Mandatory ASLR) enabled, if you do, turn it off (Off by default), that should solve the issue for you.
Hello. If anyone still needs help with this, I made a guide that fixed this exact issue for me, I haven't found the solution posted ANYWHERE else yet, so if nothing helped you, try this.
Hope this helps anyone, seems to have helped some people already.
