Not Launching -- Tried Everything
I've tried everything I could find on the internet, as well as even contacting EA twice knowing it was a lost cost both times because it's EA. This game used to run at the beginning of the year just fine, now I tried to launch it up to do a play through actually and it fails to launch. Just takes me straight back to the EA app. I've verified files, added DLL files, edited registry, tried to run it through Frosty Mod Manager, ran a clean boot of my computer, reinstalled Origins--blah blah blah. Nothing has helped. I even was trying to remove it from my Steam account and buy again for 5 dollar when it was on sale, but I couldn't even do that because apparently it never gets removed from your account truly. If anyone has a fix that works for them, please let me know. I can't keep scouring reddit, ea forums, and steam forums forever. I just want the game I paid for to actually work. :aurip:

This does not work for me, unfortunately.

You can try those things, maybe something will work.

Go to Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop (it usually has 2 folders, one called outdatedEADesktop - you don't need that one).
Right click EADesktop.exe, choose Compatibility tab, check "Run this program as Administrator" press Apply and Ok.

In NVIDIA Control Panel
Manage 3D Settings - Program Settings - add MassEffectAndromeda.exe from game folder location.
Monitor technology - Fixed Refresh, Preferred refresh rate - Application-controlled, Vertical sync - Fast.

Right click the game in Library, choose General tab, down in the LAUNCH OPTIONS type
-dx11
You can just copy it there.

Unfortunately, none of these fixes worked for me. Thank you for trying, however.

I could not get the game launch either.

What made it work for me was:
!. Uninstalled MEA on Steam.
2. Deleted all remaining mod-files.
3. Reinstalled MEA on Steam.
4. Reinstalled and applied all mods.
5. Updated the EA App (downloaded it from EA website and repaired the installation).
6. Opened Mod app, Steam and EA App.
7. Started MEA from Steam.
8. Watched EA App do its things, waited for a minute or two, and finally got to play.

Did you get it to work with anything? I honestly can't believe how difficult it has been to just get the game to open. The EA App is miraculously ♥♥♥♥♥♥
I hate EA... nothing but problems with its EA Launcher, Games, etc... what a ♥♥♥♥ company

Nothing has worked. I think it's some activation error thing with the EA app. I contacted EA about it but of course, they were no help.

Just out of curiosity... by any chance are you running Windows 11 OS with the "24h2" update/patch installed[learn.microsoft.com]? :winter2019happybulb: And I'm mostly stating this simply because it has caused issues to several other games from other developers / publishers. :baa:

I bought it on Steam but while the EA app shows some of my other games which are on Steam, it doesn't show this one.

There is something wrong with the EA app. When I try to launch the game from the exe file located in the program files, it opens up the EA app and tells me this game is not installed.

They previously integrated Origin with Steam but when they gave up on Origin and switched to the EA app, they obviously made things worse and introduced new errors.

I should note that I actually bought this game before on Origin (I picked up the Steam version because I find the Steam UI easier to work with) and then it worked fine.

This is why I've stuck with consoles with ea games, I haven't ever had a problem launching the game on xbox or playstation, but on pc it's a buggy mess.

For those who have windows 10 N right click on Start then click on Settings->System->Optional features then click on the " + " Add a feature, in the search window write media and hit enter, you should now have two files to download: Media Feature Pack and Windows Media Player Legacy (app). Install both and restart the system, the game should now start.

All EA games bought from Steam still require EA App to function...and to get them work can be challenging.

So, first things first.
Make sure you have EA App installed and that it is updated and running, before starting MEA on Steam, and after launching the game from Steam, check the EA App to see if it wants to do something with the game before it actually launches.

If that does not work then:
!. Uninstall MEA on Steam.
2. Delete all remaining files and mods.
3. Reinstall MEA on Steam.
4. Reinstall and apply mods.
5. Update the EA App (download it from EA website and repair the installation). This is important because the App seems to fail to update itself properly in any other way.
6. Open Mod app, Steam and EA App.
7. Start MEA from Steam.
8. Watch EA App do its things (can take a while, like a minute or two or more)
9. The game should now start and its status on the EA App should be "accessed through Steam"

Hopefully this helps.
