Deinstall the EA app (i have many problems with that launcher too, i think its a EA problem, not steam)
Only deinstall the EA app and then start the game with steam, it will start install of EA auto.
Didn't work; after uninstall, when I tried to launch from Steam, it immediately attempted to install the EA App. Wouldn't launch the game when I cancelled it.
Update: Reinstalled the EA app and now the game is running directly from steam.

Hit Windows+R.
In the run dialog enter "regedit".
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>BioWare
Old Install Dir:
D:\OriginLibrary\Mass Effect Andromeda\
New Install Dir:
F:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Andromeda
*this is where my game was installed, yours will probably be different. You can go to manage on the game in your steam library to navigate to your install location*
Thanks for the info, that solved the issue for me as well.
