I am sorry you are going through the EA Desktop App problems. You are not alone in this. If a simple restart of the EA Desktop App does not work, then I suggest rolling back to Origin. Please note that this method is not guaranteed to work, work forever, nor that they have zero chance of damaging your game files or placing your account at risk. So far all received feedback on this was positive and it has solved problems for all players I am aware of who did this (myself included).
1. Install version 10.5.119.52718 of Origin Full Setup from https://taskinoz.com/downloads/OriginSetup-10.5.119.52718.exe
2. When it installs exit from origin again (it will probably ask you to login again or update, don't worry about it for now and just close it)
3. Open C:\ProgramData\Origin\local.xml with any text editor
4. Add in the lines
<Setting value="true" key="MigrationDisabled" type="1"/>
<Setting key="UpdateURL" value="http://EA_app.sucks/" type="10"/>
<Setting key="AutoPatchGlobal" value="false" type="1"/>
<Setting key="AutoUpdate" value="false" type="1"/>
just after the line <Settings>
5. Save and Play

This way you will have both apps, Origin, and EA Desktop, on your PC. You can occasionally check EA Desktop App to see if they updated it and fixed the problem for you and many of us. If you still require further support for this or something else in the future, please do not hesitate to come back to this topic, or forum, or reach out to me directly via text or voice call. Good luck!
The other issue is the 'OriginThinSetupInternal.exe' files that get used by the client to try and update the client. By deleting those in your system, the client fails to try and update. It'll re-aquire those though. And, if the client does attempt to update again....always use the 'cancel' option or decline it's attempt at getting you to update to the EA client.....close the client...then delete those setupInternal files again. It's all in my thread....
'Keep EA client but Install Origin'
At any rate, I've tried posting a step by step in the forums for each game I know of in Steam that requires the EA / Origin client. It's always titled 'Keep EA Client but Install Origin...'
So, if you want to.... you can copy the link to it or copy the contents of it. And, feel free to go through and edit steps / links if you want to do it from scratch and find you need to modify steps.
I don't do it for 'fame' or glamour of any kind. I don't care if people copy / paste my solution / guide. I just do it cuz it pizzed me off them forcing that garbage client on us when the Origin one worked just fine and the new one don't. Thus I wanted to share it cuz tons of people constantly bombard the bug reports section of EA forum with this issue and no help from EA over it. EA's repeat answer is.... oh well, your screuued and just have to install EA client and live with it..... even though they know for a fact it's not working for cuzillions of people.
No doubt. So many people are P.O.'d with that move by EA Games. What's worse is they KNOW it's a buggy client yet keep trying to shove it down our throats by continually trying to circumvent our efforts to keep the Origin client usable. Seems they've given up on that.....for now anyway. I'm sure they'll come out with another forced update on us Origin client users to try an force us out of that client again though.
Yeah, once you opted to install the EA client, you have to then install the Origin client again cuz part of that EA client install process is deleting your Origin client. So, what I did was go into settings for the EA client..... disabling automatic updates.... change it's game install directory to the original one used by Origin..... ...\Origin Games. Then I grabbed a download of the Origin client and re-installed it again..... going through all the steps to keep it from trying to 'upgrade' to the EA client. Anytime Origin launches, it checks for version updates and you'll get a little popup notice about upgrading to the new EA client. Just always use the cancel / decline option or exit the notice. And, be sure you've set it's settings to NOT automatically update anything. If you feel you need to update a game, you can do that manually. Just don't have it set for the client to do it automatically...... this will help avoid issues in the future..... hopefully.
I have the same problem. I tried to install MEA a week ago.
After launching game from steam, ea app/origin just restarts. Game is not launching.
Reinstalling Origin according to some instructions doesn't help.
Only one way to start MEA - to install Frosty Mod Manager and launching plugin with ea settings there so game starts from FMM (even without mods).
But there are another problem (I think - connected to mods) - Game crashes while Ryder go to the Nexus at the first time.
