This is clearly the worst game BioWare has made since Dragon Age 2 and it reeks of low quality in almost every area. The story is bad. The characters are awful. Exploration is terrible. Multiplayer is dead. Combat is okay.
+1
What it does well is the FPS combat. That's where they didn't have to beat the engine into submission and it shows. It plays pretty well but for the enemy AI being severely suboptimal. One can understand how the bit of the game which did continue was the multiplayer FPS part. Would be wrong not to also point out that the game itself is very pretty even four years on.
The bad for Andromeda is that the story itself is really poorly done, you can see the joins where they've tried to fix it together. It's jarringly badly written in places too. As an RPG, it's poor as your choices have few meaningful consequences. There's also an excess of systems which are clearly half-baked if not just plain old busywork.
If you're a Mass Effect completionist or just enjoy or have to time to play a mediocre game, for sure dive in on a steep sale. There is some fun to be found in the game, especially on a single play through.
What constitutes mediocre is a matter of opinion, not a matter of fact.
Frostbite engine is by far the biggest issue with Andromeda.
Having to beat the engine into submission, (human face animations) is an apt description.
I will admit, some of the first 3 hours or so did feel a bit joined together.
The NPC conversations did not always make complete sense.
I remember there seemed to be a change of tone or intonation with some of the responses, like they had been added in at a later date.
The reason I post on this forum, is because I found Andromeda to be a well told story with depth. I thought the NPC interactions were well written and well voiced. I was still engaging with NPCs 100 hours into the game.
It was supposed to be the first in a trilogy, so the story had to move in a certain direction.
Having found Andromeda to be an excellent and unique sci-fi experience, I am at a loss to explain what more this game could have done...
(Edit : The original post had a reference to DA:3
Having just played a 3 hour session of DA:3 on Origin, I can say nothing other than I highly recommend it)
Wait, this is a FPS as in first person shooter? Or are you talking Frames Per Second? I hate first person shooters...
There you can watch gameplay videos and find out what sort of game it is
Maybe also watch the game trailer on the Steam store page ?
Should not take you too long to be able to answer your own question
Have you thought about just not answering if all you have is useless snarky comments?
