GTX 3070 with this gamw oh dear
I have had MEA since day one -

I have one of the new RTX 3070 you would think it be great right :) - In the Tempest I get 18 / 25 FPS - The galaxy map 18 FPS - On planets i get round 30 to 40 FPS sometimes 15 / 20 --

Now I have COD MW i get 90 / 140 / FPS - Need For Speed 100 / 145 FPS

MEA really needs new updates to fix this

That's all on the video card devs, not teh game devs. It makes perfect sense that a game that isn't terribly popular and is unfairly hated would not be a top priority for optimization regarding graphics driver software, especially with a very new card.

I went from a 970 and got round 40 / 45 - I have to play round with some settings

you always have to screw around with new cards no matter who makes them. Try messing with the vsync or aliasing and see if you get jumps or drops; also hop into the Nvidia Control Panel and fiddle until you get something you like. I've had a case where my old 970 beat my 2070 before but only until I found out global setting needed to be messed with for my rig.

strange considering the 3070 is almost as good as the 2080Ti
Just wait for new drivers as the gpu is still new

Again, as I and another have mentioned, capability isn't the issue, it the software driver, hence, optimization.

Glad to hear. Might get a 3080 eventually, nice to know Nvidia is putting effort into the new cards.

I am very happy with my 3070 - Least I know its driver issue not the card itself :) I paid £586 for my 3070 as I also got a new monitor - that was £1000 sorted lol

this is why i said wait for new drivers....
if you actually read the second sentence

I indeed did. Just pointing out that the performance issue has nothing to do with hardware capability, in reference to your first sentence. It isn't "strange" that a new card, that's almost as good as a good old card, is much worse for a particular game cause the card is new and requires software updates while the old card has already had updates.... To elaborate my point.
ChickenBalls Nov 9, 2020 @ 7:07pm
That "strange" word in my comment was used to inform the OP that the card itself is powerful enough to give high fps and most likely not because of the game itself which is why i added the second sentence.
Satisfied?
