[SOLVED] The shader load time is unreal....
title... I feel like I spent more time waiting for them to load than actually playing the game in some cases.

FIX found on EA from user "Skauron"

"It was taking over a minute or two to get into a game and at the end of a game, and after 3 games like that i'd lost my patience with it.

So i did the following:

launched nvidia control panel

clicked 'manage 3d settings'

changed 'Shader Cache Setting to 'Off'

clicked Apply

*REBOOTED PC*

located and deleted: C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\Temp\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache folder & its contents

located and deleted C:\Windows\temp\NV_Cache folder and its contents

launched nvidia control panel

clicked 'manage 3d settings'

changed 'Shader Cache Setting to 'ON'

clicked Apply

*REBOOTED PC*

Tested ME:A in multiplayer, and the building shaders zipped past like never before.

*** CURED ***
"

Hopefully this helps someone else.

Not a problem here. Loading is fast.

Did you perhaps mess with Shader Cache option in Steam or NVIDIA Control Panel (assuming you even have NVIDIA card)?

Or you perhaps play the game from HDD?

I have a HDD and shader loading is only a one time thing at the start and takes me 15-25 secs. Not sure what your problem is, maybe you got a potato?

What if it is a potato from Portal 2?

Wow, okay. My fault for forgetting how toxic these forums can be some times.

Actually its a mid range rig with a 2070 and a ryzen 7 in it and the shaders load 4 out of 5 times I start the game lasting from 2 to 15 minutes... Literally had enough time to write a few paragraphs of a review while I was waiting for it to finish yesterday.

I'm actually having a real issue here, anyone with real feedback would be appreciated.

No I didn't mess with any shader options, yes I have Nvidia, and I have a Samsung SSD. The only thing I've messed with at all is the vsync that gets rid of the issue but makes the game look like garbage for me. I could turn it off and on and have two or three quick start games but than it repeats the loading shaders thing again.

Yea it shouldn't take anywhere near 15 minutes, mine usually takes around 30 seconds on my first launch of the game on a HDD, and is much quicker after, until I restart my PC again. Not sure why messing with vsync makes it faster though that seems kinda odd lol. Are you running any mods?

No Mods. 15 minutes might have been much since I wasn't actually timing it but it was definitely enough for me to write a review, spellcheck the review, and than re-read and post the review. I just turned the game on today and timed it an it was more around 5 minutes which is still harsh and noticeably different than the 30sec everyone keeps saying.

HOWEVER, since it was annoying and I have google I was able to find something that worked on one of the EA forums. I'll post it up top for anyone unlucky to go through it like I did.

Relax, I was only joking.

If you gave more info in the start we would have been able to help more. I think I at least pointed you in the right direction with my post about shader caches, no need to thank me or anything.

Do worry I got that. Honestly though, I just posted this thread in frustration yesterday thinking I'd find people in the same situation but instead got three for three people saying it should only take 30sec lol, after figuring out I had some niche issue I'm happy a found a solution at all.

glad you got it figured out :steamhappy:

Good that you solved it then. Google-Fu to the rescue.
OwedEvil Oct 10, 2020 @ 3:56pm
Well, if you think the word "potato" is toxic, it actually pretty damn alkaline. Was going to suggest updating all your drivers after determining you meet, or ideally exceed, min specs. Good on ya for posting the solution you found, most folk dont bother.

Thanks a lot, you saved me :D
I have an SSD and still the loading screen was endless. By the way: it was not necessary to delete those folders in my case ;)
Thank you again.
See you!

(Sorry for my english)
