so whats the deal with steam not launching the game and shifting it over to ea for ea not launching the game and then steam loading up again to not load the game, is anyone else having this issue, i bought it on steam a while ago and it worked fine now all the sudden, zip, it wont work, ive uninstalled, set it as administrator, done everything i can and it just wont launch, if any one knows a fix, please let me know.

so heres an update, now none of my ea related games are working, even the ones that i bought from steam, that have to go through the ea desktop app wont work now, that includes mass effect legendary edition, kinda frustrated, never had an issue while using the origin app.

The only thing that can remedy this is going into Task Manager and just closing Desktop app in the processes section and keep trying it until it does something. I have reported it to EA Support and I received the same old copy + paste garbo

the only thing it is doing now is saying that star wars needs administrative rights, ill include a screenshot

well i cant figure out how to add a screenshot to this chat but ea is pulling up saying that star wars battlefront 2 needs administrative privileges, not sure why, its never asked that before.

yeah its frustrating, i give it administrative rights and it still dont do anything, worked fine like a week and a half ago

is there a way to launch this game without EA desktop on Steam?
i hate the EA app. i bought this on steam to use on steam.

Try this solution. Last week I was having a similar issue and this solved for me. Type in Windows desktop search bar "environment variables" and open the control panel option that comes up (i.e., "Edit the system environment variables"). Then, click the button at the bottom of the window that says "Environmental Variables...". If there's a Variable called GAME_DATA_DIR or a variable related to Battlefront II, delete it, restart the PC ( this may not be needed but just in case) and try opening the game again.

that worked for me this time, but now my mods dont work lol, cant catch a break. got any ideas

Nope, no idea on mods. They may be breaking something related to the GAME_DATA_DIR path. You could try re-installing/re-enabling the mods one by one. If it breaks again, at least you know how to solve it now.

yeah, im not sure what mod is causing it if any, i went through all of them and none work, so i have no idea lol.

Since they switched to the ea app I've had nothing but issues with this game.

okay so got a question, i was looking at my plugins for star wars battlefront for frosty, and the bioware localization plugin has a exclamation point next to it while all the others have check marks ive installed multiple plugins for the bioware localization plugin but it still has the ! point, anybody know how to fix this, i feel like this could be whats wrong

I've had this problem with battlefront and squadrons for awhile now I've done everything I can think of nothing seems to work.
