Can't run the game anymore from Steam after linking Epic with Origin. FIXED WITH ORIGIN CLIENT UPDATE

I don't have an Epic account, I prefer to have my dignity.
I can't play battlefront 2 in multi, I can only play the single player campaign mode.

If I want to play multiplayer I need an Epic game key.

So Epic "the devil" has struck again.
They took over the game by stealing, as always, and bought EA so that the steam version doesn't work anymore.

Now it's up to Steam to claim its rights.

But I think steam's biggest mistake was renegotiating with EA to get their game back on steam.

I like EA games but steam was better when EA wasn't there.

As for the players who have Epic games accounts, you've signed a pact with the devil, so go take a crap from your master.

I'm going to complain to Steam because they're the ones who sold me the game, either they stop selling EA games or they allow us to play them when we buy them.

EA is 100% to blame, even people who bought the game from Origin ended up having EGS version taking over if they got the game from EGS. This is clearly a bug with Origin.

Also, you can play Multi-player without Epic game key, I don't even know why you think you can't.

I say I can't play multi without the Epic key because I don't have access to multi-player without the Epic key.

Makes me think you are not understanding something if you actually think that. You do have access to MP on the non EGS version that you have. I literally know people playing the MP on the PC without having the EGS version.

I can't log in, when I click on "log in" I am sent back to EA telling me to activate the game key.

It's probably their net. I used to get 'offline-only mode' notifications back when I used trash wi-fi on my PS4. I was also playing MP BF2 on Steam earlier today, so that too.

To be honest, the game is kinda strange now.. I started my game on steam, and I was offline on the game for some reason (never happen before), two attempts later, the game reconnected me, I don't think it's the servers, since I played some games (Even earlier), everything seems completely normal

Just contacted the support via EA's live chat, here's their reply when I asked about the issue:

EA: I wish to inform you that this is currently a known issue going on at the moment and players across the globe are facing the same. One good thing is that our team is already aware about it and is religiously working on it to get this fixed.

Me: is the "fix" going to be per request basis (i.e the affected accounts have to contact support), or will it be applied globally?

EA: The fix is going to be applied globally. So once it is resolved, all the players facing this issue will be able to play their game.

They also recommend for us to wait for the "fix" instead of unlinking the Epic's account from Origin. Hopefully it will be resolved soon....

If it helps - which it doesn't - if you bought it on Uplay and got it on Epic it doesn't cause any problems.

You get two icons for the game but either launches.

The only problem seems to be that if you have the base game installed it doesn't upgrade to Celebration and continues to run the base, but as it is only crappy skins it doesn't matter.

I claimed BF2 on EGS though I didn't install it as I've got it ready on Steam. Unlike you, claiming the game didn't affect my Steam file, I've played w no hiccups today. I'm gonna assume this is an issue with Origin, not EGS. They're also the ones who'd have any restorable profile data you could ask about.

FYI, this exact issue happened with Apex a few months back, the difference being that we didn't automatically have our old profile data erased, we had to request it - which was a whole other issue.. point is. Origin sucks. EA Desktop won't be any better either : (
