POTENTIAL FIX FOR GAME NOT LAUNCHING

I have found a possible fix for the game refusing to launch for some people.

I cannot promise that this will work for everyone, but I'm going to share what I've discovered works for me, and what I'm using and did to do it. Some things may be unknowingly unnecessary, but better safe than sorry.


NOTE: I purchased the game on Steam, so I can't promise as well if it'll work for those who purchased it elsewhere, but let me know if it does.

Download Frosty Mod Manager (latest version, NOT ALPHA)

Scan the game location of Battlefront II and select it. If it doesn't detect it, manually add it

Then go up to the Tools bar at the top, and then Options. Go to Launch Options and then enable Platform Launching. Set it to EADesktop and save.

SKIP THIS STEP IF YOU SUCCESSFULLY SCANNED THE GAME LOCATION:
Restart Frosty Mod Manager and click Scan Games again. It should find the game correctly but give you an error upon selecting that there's already a duplicate. It'll close but that's fine. It should work okay upon opening it again. If it doesn't find the game correctly still for you, don't worry about it. Considering it should basically be the same thing, it should work fine with all this still. Hopefully.

Download FrostyFix (Latest version)

Open it and, if necessary, add the game's exe by clicking on the cog at the top right, go to Settings, and then find "starwarsbattlefrontii.exe" through Custom Game select.

Select the game, then select platform Global

Click Enable Mods Globally


And then launch the game THROUGH FROSTY MOD MANAGER. LET IT DO ITS THING. EA Launcher should open for a second and Steam should close entirely on its own and then start booting itself back up (assuming you have Remember My Password enabled). Just wait and don't touch or do anything.

If this seems like an overall fix and you did everything right, the game should launch.

Unfortunately, at least for me, the game will launch and sometimes be stuck in offline mode most times (or it could just be EA's servers), so you won't be able to play online. It may be due to how Steam was closed entirely prior to launching. I'm not sure, but we may just have to make due until things get fixed. It can sometimes be fixed by just clicking Connect a few times. Keep in mind, I don't know what mods you have installed or whatever, so if you have problems launching and have mods, then its best you try this without them enabled.

Thank you so much! I scoured every single posts for a fix and this was the only one that worked. No idea why using Frosty mods before the EA launcher conflicted with the EA launcher itself, but oh well. Can't wait to ♥♥♥♥ my pants playing Ewok Hunt again. Thanks again!

Probably because they haven't updated Frosty Manager that much, my system still has this issue over a year later. It's either attempt your fix which I'm in the middle of, or reformat my whole system, which is a pain in the ass just to get one game to work.

So I tried your fix, worked once and now it's back to not launching again. If I have to reformat my HD for this game I am never modding it again as Frosty is what broke it in the first place.

I was more referring to EA not fixing this when I made this post, lol

I'm looking into trying this out, since BF2 hasn't launched on my computer for over a year I think, but when I select the tools option I don't see the launch options to enable platform editing.
