Directx 12 NOT WORKING
I run this game just fine (in DX11), among other more demanding games in 4K without issues. Currently have an RTX 3080 and you'd think it should handle DX12 no problem, but no I get about 1-10 fps or sometimes just outright freezes. Monitoring the usage says GPU is nearing 100%... how? In one of the newest gfx cards out there? CPU usage is way below 20% so it's not a CPU bottleneck.

If I turn off DX12 and stick with DX11 the game runs just like normal. What gives? Is this a bug that is just gonna stay?

I'm in the same boat. RTX 3070 Ryzen 5 3600 16GB RAM. Very choppy with DX12, super smooth on DX11. What gives?

U just explained why urself , "newer gfx card" This game is outdated and does not support newer hardware , plain and simple , if u want it to run in DX12 put post processing to low and run windows 1k pre booting the game and use 1k in-game tops. (it does support HDR though -_-)

Are you saying older harware runs this game in DX12 better? Curious to know this, because you may be right that this is a new issue with 30 series cards.
Still this should be addressed.

I just tried running this game with directx 12 and hdr for the first time launch. Ended up switching to dx11 after a min into campaign. Too choppy. I'm on a rtx 2060 fe and ryzen 7 3800x. I should be able to max this game at 1440p.

I'm very curious if anyone with a 10 series card like a 1060-1080 has this issue as well.

Returned it to DX11 and so far ultra at 1440p is butter smooth. I also have a nice 165hz display with HDR. Though I did notice with this game that the black to lighter areas had banding artefacty like look. I tried adjusting my displays black level but couldn't really agree on the right brightness. HDR settings are bare minimum. Either Auto or none. I'd like to have a peak brightness and what not. Oh well.

the 2000 and 3000 series both yes , my old amd rx 580 had 0 issues with this game (which is about the same age as the 1000 series)

Thank you all for mostly confirming my suspicions. I hope 2021 brings a patch to this.

Shocking bad or shockingly good?

So far the campaign on DX12 is super smooth on high with i5 7400 3.0GHz, GTX 1060 3GB, and 16GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. Granted I'm only at the battle of Endor.

Update: completed the campaign on ultra, still smooth. Looks like it truly is the newer hardware.

it's 2025, i tried it. Directx 12 works with my 4090. Very smooth. Have not tried with HDR yet. It seems the drivers work very well now.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
