Ah okay. Thank you for the in-depth answer, I really appreciate it. It's really unfortunate because I already own the game on Xbox but would have been happy to get the PC version if I could use my stick. Oh well, at least Squadron is confirmed as having HOTAS support.
With all that out of the way, fighter play in SWBF2 is very, very simplified. Honestly, I get the best results out of KB/M, and I have tens of thousands of hours in flight sim saying this. People use controllers, but the way the aim pickle works you just put your mouse cursor on the target and blast away, the game will control most flight parameters automagically.
In the new Squadrons game, they are promising more flight controls and VR, so hopefully that will include HOTAS support.
