HOTAS support?
Hi all, quick question.... Does this game support HOTAS? I have an X52 Pro and would be happy to buy this game if I can use my stick for flight battles. Any help appreciated.

No. It doesn't support any controller other than a gamepad. You cannot rebind any of the controller buttons (outside of choosing between a few alternate schemes). In fact, if you even attempt to play this game with a flight stick connected to your PC you will not be able to control your soldier. I had to physically unplug my X52 to even be able to aim with my mouse. It's possible you might be able to remedy these issues with 3rd party software, but I wouldn't count on it.

Ah okay. Thank you for the in-depth answer, I really appreciate it. It's really unfortunate because I already own the game on Xbox but would have been happy to get the PC version if I could use my stick. Oh well, at least Squadron is confirmed as having HOTAS support.

I have a Thrustmaster HOTAS-X, a Logitch G29 steering wheel, Saetek rudders, the Thrustmaster Th8A shifter, and XBOX controller, and a TrackIR all plugged in simultaneously while I play SWBF2, no problems at all with device conflicts. I don't use hubs and I don't use USB3, and I am fanatical about keeping the drivers functioning at peak efficiency. Maybe it's motherboard/USB compatibilities that decide whether or not you will have controller conflicts. Hell if I know.

With all that out of the way, fighter play in SWBF2 is very, very simplified. Honestly, I get the best results out of KB/M, and I have tens of thousands of hours in flight sim saying this. People use controllers, but the way the aim pickle works you just put your mouse cursor on the target and blast away, the game will control most flight parameters automagically.

In the new Squadrons game, they are promising more flight controls and VR, so hopefully that will include HOTAS support.

If i even have a XBox pad plugged in it overrides my mouse and keyboard, which is a pain cos i like to use the pad when flying, but i cant

Just like Star Citizen the M+KB is king of the controls. Which is great for infantry battles and not so much for vehicular ones.
