Denuvo.
I was actually really excited for this game, I probably would have bought it day one. Unfortunately, the inclusion of this anti-consumer malware means I cannot support this game until it is removed. Intrusive DRM cannot be trusted after how much it's previously failed, that's even happened with a previous Sonic game! Sonic Heroes is no longer playable on PC unless you use a cracked copy with the DRM removed, who's to say this exact same thing won't need to happen with Frontiers in the future?

Such as the version of Sonic Heroes that was included in the Sonic PC Collection which is the version I have.

Should we even be surprised?

I'd be more shocked if denuvo wasn't in it.

Sonic Heroes M.A.D version has DRM, which doesn't work the game. That is the version I had before.

Yeah I'm still gonna get the game regardless.

Heroes DRM? I have a copy of the game, a European one that comes on two CDs.
Requires nothing special other than keeping the disc in the optical drive while playing.
Plus, you can just download a cracked executable to work around that.
That's nothing like modern day DRM like Denuvo.
The PC version of Sonic Heroes uses what's known as SafeDisc DRM which does not work on any version of Windows since Vista, preventing one from playing the game on these operating systems. The Sonic PC Collection version released in 2009, however, does not use any form of DRM at all (not even a disc check) so if you want to play Sonic Heroes on a modern PC that is the version you want to get.

If you want to know more, I'll provided a link here that can give you some more useful info:

I’ve Got sonic Heroes on CD for pc and it works fine for me
You might want to include this link in the OP
https://steamdb.info/app/1237320/history/
Because they have since removed the Denuvo tag, which considering SEGA could just be them lying again.

Ahh, so it depends on the version.

That is correct, if the game disc and cover say MAD, then avoid that version since that one has DRM which doesn't work anymore due to Windows update. You can install the game, but when it comes to running the game nothing happens.

I went to the website that the gamebox said www.mastertronic.com, but it no longer existed at the time.

I heard Sonic PC Collection which includes Sonic Heroes doesn't have DRM, so that should work nowadays. I can't say since I don't have it.

SEGA lying to their customers about Denuvo is their M.O. Sonic Frontiers is definitely going to have Denuvo.

I hate viruses on my PC

I've installed Heroes from the Sega PC disk many times. No DRM besides keeping the disk in.

That is DRM.

Fun fact, the release of Heroes in the Sonic PC Collection uses a scene crack that Sega downloaded from the Internet. I'm always fascinated by publishers who do that. Another example of that happening is the version of Max Payne here on Steam.

Does your Sonic Heroes say M.A.D or MAD? If yes then that has DRM.
I had that version of Sonic Heroes and I could install it, but when it came to running the game it wouldn't work.

On the gamebox it should say www.mastertronic.com which no longer exist that website. That website was to see all the MAD games made for PC.

The disc I had was red and black.
