How Do i Get The White Chaos Emerald on Kronos Island?

For some strange reason the game isn't letting me use the bounce pads properly to get to the white chaos emerald on Kronos Island. Sonic won't follow the bounce pad system correctly, launching me off to the side. If i manage to get the second bounce pad, it launches Sonic past the third, making it impossible to get to the Chaos Emerald.

What do I do? I can't move forward in the game without it and I've nearly 100% the first Island.

I am having the same problem. I already uncovered the map and still cannot get up to the white Choas emerald.

I had the same issue, I had to jump in mid air as soon as it let me in order to try and turn around back to the spring via an air boost. If you get close enough, it should give you the homing attack icon so you can lock onto it.
I did run into this sort of thing later on in the game, but this spring was easily the worst of them.
