"A Grave Mystery" crash on Linux
I've been enjoying the game thus far, but I am unable to progress past the laser puzzle on Kronos Island because it freezes and then crashes at random intervals during the puzzle. I've tried experimenting with Proton versions, launch flags and . For the record, my system specs are:

OS - Garuda Linux (Arch-based)
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5600X
GPU - Nvidia 3060 Ti (Proprietary drivers)
RAM - 32GB
The game is running on an NVMe

Have any other users experienced this issue, and is there a solution? I didn't feel like posting this on the official thread since I think they'll just dismiss Proton-related issues. I have yet to try the game on my Steam Deck, but if it works there I'll give it a shot and try to continue on my PC after that.

I am getting this crash also on my desktop, have not been able to get the game to run on my Steam Deck.
OS - Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5900X
GPU - 3070 TI
RAM - 64GB

So it's not a hardware issue then, seeing that your specs are better than mine. Thanks for the input!

I was able to complete the offending puzzle on my Steam Deck, so the issue is with either Nvidia or the maxed-out graphics settings.

What launch options and proton version are you using on deck?

Steam Deck is the default (allegedly Proton Experimental according to the game's stats) with no launch options. Performance was admittedly subpar, but it isn't great on my desktop either (for some reason) and was really only a method to actually progress the story - I immediately went back to my desktop for the ensuing boss fight and should hopefully be able to stay on there for the remainder of the campaign. One report of ProtonDB does recommend adding DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%, but I haven't tried it myself.

This is happening to me too. I'm using Pop!_OS 22.04 with Kernel 6.06 and it's happened on multiple Proton libraries including GE Proton's latest. The exact timing of the freeze varies... this latest attempt, I'd found the puzzle solution and right when cutscene began to play... freeze.

EDIT: Okay. So actually my last attempt where it froze, the game auto-saved right at the completion point! So when I relaunched, I was past it. Before I relaunched though, I updated to the latest nvidia-driver-520... am not sure if this had any impact on the process. Doubt it.

Well, I had a similar issue at Ares Island, where after getting the Emerald there's a chase sequence with a giant skeletal fish (funily enough, I actually dreamt about the game having a skeletal fish as a boss at one point during the lead-up ), and when it fired its missiles the game hardlocked again. On the second time round, I set the graphics to low (although I did set the FPS cap to 60 - why does the game have the FPS cap as a graphics setting anyway?)

So it's probably an Nvidia thing. I'm genuinely considering a temporary switch to Noveau to see if it still happens on that driver.

EDIT: I got past the chase sequence using the Steam Deck, streaming it to my PC via remote play so that I could see what's happening more easily. Also, my Switch Pro Controller wouldn't work in the remote session, so I ended up using the Deck like a Wii U GamePad and now I'm tempted to do that for the rest of of my playthrough for some reason.

Sadly, it's happened to me too.

Operating System: Kubuntu 22.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0
Qt Version: 5.15.6
Kernel Version: 5.19.0-23-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2

I wish I had a solution for you. I also tried messing around with the settings and got nowhere.
In the end, I switched over to my Steam Deck to finish the puzzle over there instead.

Thanks, I've been able to get past the puzzle and on to the boss. I'll probably just play the rest on my deck since I seem to be having no better performance on the desktop.

Judging from everyone else's responses it must be a Nvidia issue.

I had a similar-ish issue again in one of the minigames, although I was able to speed through it before the crash happens.

I have contributed to ProtonDB and stated that the game is impossible to beat on an Nvidia GPU (or at least an Ampere one).

Having the same issue here on my alternate rig, seems to be an issue on my RTX 3060.

It specifically happens if you move the laser from the right and top one for whatever reason.

There was another puzzle that would crash my game as well.
The one where you cyloop a bunch of grass.

If the cyloop area was too big, the game would freeze as it tried to render the grass cutting effect too many times.

Can't wait to upgrade to RDNA3 and get some better Linux drivers.

Same issue here

Pop!_OS 22.04
EVGA GTX 1660 TI (Nvidia 515 proprietary drivers)
Intel i7-10700K
32 GB RAM
Proton Experimental (but I also tried other versions and they did not work either)
