How Does One Distinguish Unique, Minor, and Major Powers?
Hey Gang,

I'm still new to the game but a bit confused as to which power cards are what. I assume my Spirit's base 4 cards at the start are their unique ones, but once in the midst of the game, is there an easy way to distinguish the various power types that might be in my hand? Once I start adding new Minor and Major power cards, I assume they come from the game's general pool, right, or does each spirit have more than their initial 4 cards that are unique to them?

At any time you can bring up a Power card in full by right clicking on it, then flip it over using the button at the top left, to see the card back. Each Spirit in the game has 4 unique cards they start with.

There are other cues, however, on the front side:
  • Minor powers have a certain symbol in the top right (matching the deck back), and a light brown inner border inside the dark brown border. They also always cost 0 or 1 Energy.
  • Major powers have a different symbol in the top right (matching the deck back), and a light blue inner border inside the dark brown border. They always cost 2 or more Energy.
  • Unique powers have none of those visual cues. They can cost varying amounts of Energy.

AFAIK, it honestly doesn't actually matter much what type of card they are once they're in your hand. They all can be played or forgotten as desired.

It mostly doesn't matter, the only way it can be even vaguely relevant is when a minor or major power is forgotten it goes to the discard pile for those powers, so it's theoretically possible for other spirits to then acquire them; unique powers are simply removed from the game.

They'll only really matter come Jagged Earth where a certain elementless major power in that expansion cares about all three types. I imagine it will be a long time though!

In a semi-related note, does anybody know how the beginner setting of "Power Progression" works? I get that it saves a beginner from having to choose a card, but does each spirit have their own set of minor/major powers used in a set order, or is is simply a random draw of powers?

It’s the former. I believe it’s covered in the tutorial and How to Play.
