Question about the series

So I wanted to ask, my girlfriend is interested in getting into the series, but I dont know much about series in general outside of a few videos iv seen online. My question is would this be a good/ok one to get her to start her with? Or are the stories to connected that jumping straight into this one would be a mistake?

you can start with yakuza 7 but i would start with yakuza 0 since that revolves around the first protagonist of the series kazuma kiryu, whereas this protagonist ichiban kasuga is the new protag of the series, the combat here is turn based whereas with kiryu it is brawler, the stories do connect and this game does slightly spoil the events of yakuza 6

If you want to go balls in with the series play them in the order in which they were released.

1 >2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 0 > 6 > 7

I found that playing 0 first spoils the series since its a prequel and there are a lot of jokes/references that allude to the later games and you'll be able to appreciate it more. But then on the other hand there are a lot of substories in Kiwami 1 that refence 0.
its really up to you to start with 0 or 1 but I would go with 1.

The most 0 references is some stuff in 1 and kiwami 2 they aren’t even spoilers so you can still enjoy it even without the context.

yeah and even those references you push to the back of your mind and discard, only when you watch a video talking about the references do you then finally understand it

You can start here, its a hard sell to say "play x games before you get to this one" especially if you're trying to convince your S/O to play. Start here. Its fine.
