Timing attacks do not seem to work for me at all
Could anyone explain to me how am I supposed to execute them? I tried probably several hundreds of times already (completed a few story chapters, and I'm practicing these skills on every occasion when I have mana), and not even once I got the timing event right (the one that says to press Triangle on the PS4 controller).
I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I tried ALL kinds of timings.
1. The moment the circle appears.
2. The moment it's in the darker area.
3. The moment the circle reaches the center.
4. Slightly before the entire thing.
5. Slightly after the entire thing.
6. Holding a pressing through all the durations mentioned above.
7. Mashing furiously (like the other type of attack).
8. Doing it by the ear, aiming for the sound cue.
9. Trying different skills from different characters (well, the ones that have a timing attack at least).

The framerate is stable, the controller works fine, but not even a single time the game registered the timing. I saw on stream how it's supposed to look like (for all bat-related skills, for example), and it simply doesn't work.

Is there a trick? Maybe a tutorial I missed? Do I need to press and hold anything else but the triangle? Is this a known PC bug?

I'm not a pro-Tekken-player or anything, but I also don't have any physical issues that would make pressing a single button that hard for me (and I generally don't have any similar issues in other games, including rhythm games). What am I doing wrong?

triangle or Y for xbox, you need to press it around the moment attack would land ( which said in tutorial ), it's possible to miss timing, but average accuracy should be 85-90% i imagine, at least for me.

Most Y attacks really easy to time, there are some tricky X ( or square ) attacks where you dont even need to mash it but also do it in rhytm like with chefs knives throwing.

So yeah just as you mention in your last paragraph, Y attack is basically rhytm based, you need to understand when it is about to land and press Y once.

The timing attack threw me as well, I though you had to get it in the gray area. You actually want to wait for the circle to reach the center sphere thing, once it starts goes behind that press the button. I'm hitting attacks more consistently now.

imo its much easier to orient and press it right before attack would land, alot of Y attacks, like adachis beatdown would be confusing if you try to follow checker. After some time you can basically see how checker and momentum line up as well.

I have exactly the same problem. The indicator doesn't seem to work well with Y prompts for some skills.

I already figured it out. You have to press the button after it is in the center. Just wait a bit and press it.

Yeah, the indications are a bit weird. You're supposed to press it when the circle hits the prompt button, not when it enters the blue buffer zone around it. Bit of a weird design choice that is confusing but once you learn that, they're easy to hit.
