Game not launching

When i try to launch the game it opens the EA app and then closes

You probably haven't launched EA app for long time and it logged you out. Open EA app separately, log in and don't close it. Now with EA app running in background launch ME:C on Steam. In EA app (probably in background, so switch window) message'll pop up about connecting your Steam account to your EA account. Accept everything and game should start. It worked for me this way.
Also check if you have current version of EA app installed (because they used to have different "Origin" app, you probably need new EA app one to run ME:C).

Hey same for me,

I only launch the game exe with admin rights. And the game starts.

I tried reinstalling the launcher and launching the exe with admin,
It didn't work

Try to lauch it again, I had the same issue but a Link2EA window pop up the same second time I tried. I linked it and it worked

Validate Files on Steam, it worked for me after that.

I had this issue at first - it launched, said something about preparing files, then closed down. The second time I tried it, it booted the EA App, asked me to enter a verification code sent to my email address, entered that, then the game started up.

Validating files might also work.

I had logged in a couple of days ago to make sure that I didn't already own the game (I thought I did, but nope - I've had an EA account for years and it's tied to Steam too) and the app asks me to enter a security code every once in a while. So that might be what's happening to some folks.

just to add to the list of things for people to try if they come across this, try running the game in Win 7 compatibility mode.

just setting my game to that and running from the exe rather than steam sorted issues i was having with both the game launching, and with it getting stuck at the loading screen

Buying crap Origin DRM games is a mistake nevertheless

If your experiencing the game not launching I've found that all you have to do it fully close the EA app and just reopen the game from steam and the game just runs in offline mode now and all of the content is still accessible thankfully.
