Aww shoot :(
Unfinished story which may or may not be completed kinda irk me
The first one had the GREAT, if not the IMMENSE advantage to stay very simple, kind hearted, and to keep the talking to a minimum ; it was an enjoyable tale - and a COMPLETED one. The second Mirro's Edge looks like "Mirror's Edge the movie - the game - awkwardly written as any video game adaptation, yet enjoyable".
Otherwise, the game is a pure joy to play, to watch, to lose yourself into. A gem, as the first one. Not as perfect as the previous Mirror's Edge, but compensates his faults with tons of qualities, a new physic and feeling, a gameplay way smoother, easier to master, a more quick and agile Faith. The open world feature, very well implemented. The city looks alive. Tons of stuff to love, really. This is something very similar yet very different, an experience that does not replace or copy the first one, but complete it. An extreme enjoyment from the first to (almost) the last minute. The ending is clearly the worse part of a very mediocre scenario. I don't want to lie to you about this, but HELL, even if I understand how much it might make you hesitate, please do not. Buy and play.
Please apologize my english.
IMO the ending is as good as the rest of the story, which is to say, mediocre.
The confrontation between Faith and Cat is uninspired, both acting like spoiled brats, especially Cat. Upon discovering her own sister is alive after all these years she has nothing but hatred for her, and barely spares her life.
Also, the last mission in the shard is mostly a huge cutscene, with interaction with the environment done mostly with the hook, Faith being able to pull herself up enormous distances, distances that if you tried in the main city you would always fall to the streets below for sure. It's feels like the game is rushing you up the Shard. Climbing up the monster fans is cool though
Something strikingly absent from this game is the lack of seeing other npc runners actually running the original game had opponents with parkour abilities at least.
I still like the game just expected a far more interesting finale.
But hey, ending scene was quite interesting and not obvious. I don't think it was bad at all, Faith was not going to save the world yet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You're overly harsh on Catalyst and have rose-tinted glasses for the original. Catalyst's writing definitely has flaws but not to the degree you're making it out to be. You're making it sound like the Star Wars sequels.
