For those who have lag/stutter/performance issues in general

I have come across a solution to my own stutter problems, but it was in Russian so I decided I'd make an English one, I couldn't find the original poster but thank you Russia. A little brief on what this fix does:

Basically, you forcibly stop the game from Autosaving. This game Autosaves almost everytime you breathe, so, for people like me who play the game with a HDD and cant afford to get an SSD at the moment, this is the best fix. Quite painful to do it every time though, you've been warned.

Go to "Documents > Mirrors Edge Catalyst > settings". You'll see there are 4 files there, don't worry, we will be dealing with only 2 of them. Right Click on "PROF_SAVE", go to Properties, and select the "Security" Tab. Click on "Edit" on the middle part of the new section. Now for all the users included, including SYSTEM and Administrative ones, basically on EVERY user you see there, deny all of them the permission to "Write". Do this on "PROF_SAVE_backup" too. Now when you've done this, you've basically turned off the game's Autosave ability. Don't worry, the game still has checkpoints, you can still freeroam, do missions, fail, and then do them again. There's a catch though. You have to Alt+Tab and do this process again and let "PROF_SAVE" and "PROF_SAVE_backup" have the permission to write. If you don't do this, your progress won't save and you'll start from where you started last session, and all of your progression will be for nothing. Also, after enabling the abilty to write on these files, be sure to run around a bit, and see if the date on the files have changed. If they have, then it means the game has saved. Then, you're completely free to quit the game.

If ANYONE knows how to make this entire process easier, let me know. Because this entire process sometimes makes me want to not to play the game.

There's more than one cause for stutter. The PC Gaming Wiki gives a few different solutions ( https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Mirror%27s_Edge_Catalyst ), although your solution is novel.

Batch files or powershell scripts to automate this with a click, I guess?

Thanks for the comment, This fix was the only one that worked for me and I didn't see anyone post about this solution or something similiar to this in English, so I decided to make one. I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to PC stuff, I know enough to get myself around a PC but I'll look into batch files and scripts, thanks!

So you'd just create two batch files - one to set the read only status and the other to clear it. :)

First fix that worked for me after searching for like an hour, so stupid how before the game would microstutter every 3 seconds. Cool programming Dice.

this also fixes it and doesn't stop the game from autosaving though you'll need a ssd

And so yeah forgot to mention - '+r' makes files *Read only* and '-r' removes that tag
