Requires Origin, won't buy
"Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required."

F U EA.

I bought it on origin, but I agree that installing steam, buying on steam and having to install origin and have it running to play the game, is a bit too much... I was honestly expecting them to add these games like they did some older ones, without plugging origin..

Singleplayer games do not need an additional online DRM what so ever, nor does it serve any kind of purpose. You're defending it for multiplayers, while talking about singleplayers. Now that's ignorant. When a game is put on Steam, we should be able to use our Steam account to play it. We should not need an additional account somewhere else to give us permission to play a game we done paid for here. You already have a Steam account; that should be enough to play a singleplayer game at least. Dead Space 1/2, Dragon Age Origin, and the CNC remake all don't require this BS. None of these new games that have popped up need them either for their singleplayer campaigns. EA forced it on there to be a ♥♥♥♥, and if you're defending it, then you are a tool.

Sigh...sometimes I wonder why I bother. You really need to start paying attention

1. I am not defending EA
2. I said I will try to explain...I gave multiplayer as an example...so please read about the rest. I don't have time to breast feed you.
3. Stop dreaming.

Besides Valves own games, all other games on Steam have some form of DRM whether they tell you or not. What you are essentially begging for is to be signed into EA / Uplay / Microsoft / Social Club servers automatically...without an account. Who is going to give you free access?

That would be possible if Valve hosted / activated / validated the games...but they don't
Steam only keeps a download on their servers. Even for singleplayer games you will WILL need to connect to Origin et all everytime you play.

Even for a free game like Fortnite you need an account to play, that's DRM.
Its everywhere and if it ever goes away, its because someone like GOG paid for it to be removed...not because of your whining.

So you are opening the game through a client within another client???
Drain Jun 5, 2020 @ 8:23pm
1) You are defending EA if you're defending Origin. News flash, Origin is from EA.
2) Multiplayer is the ONLY excuse for a 2nd piggybacking DRM, which isn't necessary for singleplayer games what so ever. That was my point, and it seems to have flown over your head.
3) So Dead Space 1+2, Dragon Age 1, and the brand new CNC remaster, all of which don't require Origin; that's a "dream"? You need to wake up and realize this crap isn't necessary. Other games have already proved it a long time ago.
4) If they patch it out, it'll be because enough players refused to buy it with their crap on it. I'm doing my part. If you're supporting or defending it; then you're part of the problem.

One last thing, if you really want to defend Origin, maybe you should make your own thread for that.

No you are not.
When you Play GTA V do you ever see the Rockstar Launcher pop up and ask you so sign in... no. Same for Origin / Uplay. Once its installed, It automatically connects you to the server with your account information on the back end. You will never see it.

This is why the complaints are silly...
-Take Halo Master Chief Collection Single player, or Gears of War 5 Singleplayer. Do you think they automatically sign you in? No you need an Xbox live account.
-Assassin's Creed Odyssey singleplayer...same thing...uplay
-STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order...same Origin / EA account required

These kids are just nitpicking about EA Origin...they have absolutely no idea and do not READ

seriously people, just buy it on Origin.

It won't bite, I promise
Gunvarrel Jun 6, 2020 @ 7:23am
Grow up, it doesn't even install the full Origin client. It used OriginLite, which only (fully) opens once when you first get the game to log you into the Origin network (WHICH is used for things like leaderboards and achievement tracking ingame since Mirror's Edge is the type of game to encourage beating your times and competing with friends) and every successive time you launch the game after that, you never even see OriginLite pop up.
+1, I don't want to create an Origin account, if it's on steam it should only require a steam account MAX because this is the steam platform.
I'm not as familiar with Origin as I am with Steam and I don't want to use it, I want to keep my accounts low & familiar and my games in one place rather than to have all my eggs in different baskets, I don't want two, three or four clients, I just want the steam client.
I don't support the idea of requiring to install another platform when I chose the Steam platform in the first place, I think the people we see arguing for that "it's not a big deal" just want a reason to pop in their 2 cents in without any constructive thought behind it. Why should they care that this is an genuine issue that is a legitimate problem for some of us, it shouldn't be forced upon me if I wanted to stick with the steam platform, end of story.
As soon as we start accepting these practices it will only get worse and we'll start needing more and more different clients per game.
Until then I'm still going to hold off on purchasing it until it's properly on the steam platform with no strings attached, thanks a lot for the tease, Steam.

So you say..... That you dont play any games by ea even great games like star wars jedi fallen order and mirror edge catalyst because you dont want to use origin? That a stupid reaton to not play a game.
SHREDDER Jun 6, 2020 @ 2:08pm
Origin exist for almot 9 years there is nothing bad that happend to our pc since it was created until then. Do you think i would had played Crysis 3, Mass effect 3 and andromeda, Mirror edge catalyst, Titan fall 2, Battlefield hardlne and 1 Stars wars jedi fallen order and battlefront 2 if it was doing something bad on the pc. No it diddnt make my pc become a monster and no demons or aliens came out of the monitor while i was playing these gamesl Evrythign work normal. All tnese complaints about it is something i dont realy understand because after so long i can confirm that it dont cause any problems. But i refuse to get anything from Epic store and i will never install it due to their practices of taking games times exxuslvies.
Skram Jun 6, 2020 @ 3:22pm
Don't complain that we won't get another mirrors edge then because babies like you refuse to buy it because you have to take 2 seconds to sign into an account.

Since they released Origin I just play all EA games on console instead. To be fair the only good series EA makes is Mirror's Edge and the first one doesn't even require Origin

Dear EA Bot, I don't care about EA, Jedi, nor the stupid FIFA series, sincerely, a Steam citizen.
