Sigh...sometimes I wonder why I bother. You really need to start paying attention
1. I am not defending EA
2. I said I will try to explain...I gave multiplayer as an example...so please read about the rest. I don't have time to breast feed you.
3. Stop dreaming.
Besides Valves own games, all other games on Steam have some form of DRM whether they tell you or not. What you are essentially begging for is to be signed into EA / Uplay / Microsoft / Social Club servers automatically...without an account. Who is going to give you free access?
That would be possible if Valve hosted / activated / validated the games...but they don't
Steam only keeps a download on their servers. Even for singleplayer games you will WILL need to connect to Origin et all everytime you play.
Even for a free game like Fortnite you need an account to play, that's DRM.
Its everywhere and if it ever goes away, its because someone like GOG paid for it to be removed...not because of your whining.
2) Multiplayer is the ONLY excuse for a 2nd piggybacking DRM, which isn't necessary for singleplayer games what so ever. That was my point, and it seems to have flown over your head.
3) So Dead Space 1+2, Dragon Age 1, and the brand new CNC remaster, all of which don't require Origin; that's a "dream"? You need to wake up and realize this crap isn't necessary. Other games have already proved it a long time ago.
4) If they patch it out, it'll be because enough players refused to buy it with their crap on it. I'm doing my part. If you're supporting or defending it; then you're part of the problem.
One last thing, if you really want to defend Origin, maybe you should make your own thread for that.
No you are not.
When you Play GTA V do you ever see the Rockstar Launcher pop up and ask you so sign in... no. Same for Origin / Uplay. Once its installed, It automatically connects you to the server with your account information on the back end. You will never see it.
This is why the complaints are silly...
-Take Halo Master Chief Collection Single player, or Gears of War 5 Singleplayer. Do you think they automatically sign you in? No you need an Xbox live account.
-Assassin's Creed Odyssey singleplayer...same thing...uplay
-STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order...same Origin / EA account required
These kids are just nitpicking about EA Origin...they have absolutely no idea and do not READ
It won't bite, I promise
I'm not as familiar with Origin as I am with Steam and I don't want to use it, I want to keep my accounts low & familiar and my games in one place rather than to have all my eggs in different baskets, I don't want two, three or four clients, I just want the steam client.
I don't support the idea of requiring to install another platform when I chose the Steam platform in the first place, I think the people we see arguing for that "it's not a big deal" just want a reason to pop in their 2 cents in without any constructive thought behind it. Why should they care that this is an genuine issue that is a legitimate problem for some of us, it shouldn't be forced upon me if I wanted to stick with the steam platform, end of story.
As soon as we start accepting these practices it will only get worse and we'll start needing more and more different clients per game.
Until then I'm still going to hold off on purchasing it until it's properly on the steam platform with no strings attached, thanks a lot for the tease, Steam.
