Ascaron exception error on start up

I hope someone might have solved this, Windows 7 32 bit wont start. get the AEE every time, Ive tried removing theiphlpapi.dill file & it doesnt make any difference, nor does verifying the integraty of the games casche, hope someone can help as i enjoyed this game when I had it on disc years ago...

Lower your resolution. Either make it a custom one at 1680X1049 or set it to a lower, default one.

There is a thread on how to create a custom resolution in this forum, though it is for Nvidia cards.

I set mine to 1440×900 as it is a 16:10 resolution and it works fine. I have an ATI card.

thanks, that sounds likely, but how do I lower the game resolution when it crashes before I have a chance to go into the options screen?

ok tried that & nvidia wont allow me to create that custom resolution, Im playing on a HDMI leaded 1920x1080 TV which might have somthing to do with it...

Not sure where the setting are saved, but you can try deleting the game, going to the DarkStar One directory and deleting that, then re-download the game. This should reset the settings to default and that should allow you to run the game if the previous settings were saved.

I've tried all resolution settings possible,
still getting the black screen with target reticle cursor, (exception error)

Gamer's Republic G75VW Asus laptop gear..

Guys, is this game worth spending time trying to find a solution?
Or maybe I should ask for a refund?
