New pc and DS1

Just installed DS1 onto new pc from steam; and successfully introduced Meso trainer and flak fix, (It says) but its not appeared in game. I was going to reduce 1m C down to 1000 but its already on 1000 credits???? So boviously somewthing is wrong somewhere? I have a faint recollection that I am supposed to delete an ini file before loading DS1; or am I imagining it from somewhere else.
