What *are* soul orbs anyway?
Lore-wise, what are they made of? Actual souls? And why do they exist? How do they get to the spots they're in? What happens to them after they explode when being touched? Why does hell/the terminals reward you with weapon palettes for finding them?

I dont think we have enough info to reach a conclusion
more lore about soul orbs would be great. as for weapon palettes as a reward i think i know ... it's a video game !

The game already has an indepth explanation of how husks form and how creatures like king minos's corpse and the schism came from these formed souls. I wouldn't doubt that the soul orbs are made of actual souls. Perhaps the blood orbs are infused with the blood of violence's trees, explaining the rarity. I can't think of what a dual powerup is made of though.

They're probably not meant to exist, raw souls are meant to form hell's denizens, not float around.

You're either breaking them or merging with them, the latter being a possible explanation to how the terminals track your secret count.

Game logic. Why does the heat based shotgun work while underwater? How does the drone fly without any visible takeoff or jets? How does shooting a coin with hitscan automatically make the bullet seek the nearest target besides the player, and how can the rocket launcher function on sanded enemies? There are many logical discrepancies and that's for the best of nearly all games out there, ultrakill included.

Here's my whack-arse theory on what the dual wield powerup is. V1 uses blood to heal, correct? Which means somewhere along the way energy/matter from the blood is being used to essentially flash-print replacement matter for torn-off chunks and ripped plating. Maybe a dual-wield power up is simply a clump of energy that temporarilly hypercharges V1's healing mechanisms in a way that lets him flash-print a second weapon, and without the energy of the dual-wield the copy just disappears since his systems can't reasonably keep it maintained anymore.

@titan "how can the rocket launcher function on sanded enemies?" what is stopping the rocket launcher from working on sandy enemies?

In the rocket launcher's description, it mentions the chemicals in the rocket itself bind with the blood inside of it's target to activate the chemical reaction responsible for the actual Kaboom. So if it can't reach the blood, there's no kaboom.

The Sand in the Greed layer is actually made of blood via some kind of transformation process. So despite sanded enemies not actually bleeding, it's probably just barely enough for the rocket to properly explode.

Ah, they retconned the old sand lore once the rocket launcher came about. I missed that.

ngl that would make so much sense, it would also make sense if the blood nexus uses ALL the blood from the duel powerup to make the extra arm AND copy of the gun, meaning the duel powerup to v1, its worth a weapon and arm, also it would make sense if the gun is reformed to be the next weapon v1 equips.

he asked hell nicely or smth
its not like you know
they're hoes and the terminals are their pimps, hence the rewards upon retrieval

same replication technology as the other projectile weapons that's right, ultrakill players witness v1 giving birth to coin sized machines midfight.
