are the encore levels canon, if so, what are they? in the canon lore

Likely not canon. I like the direction they take though, my headcanon tells me these are the deprecated, destroyed layers after V1 kills everything.

After the layer recovers from V1 passing through, then V1 goes back to them. Like some sort of... encore?

If they are it'll probably make more sense when we get to the end, or maybe even something to do with P-3

It'd make more sense if the encore levels started from the bottom, then went up. Prelude being the last encore level.
Like, when you beat 9-2, there's a blue elevator that sends you up instead of going down. I never got why the red ones are "elevators" when they're never shown being used as elevators instead of giant holes.

my theory has been that by the end of the game v1 may end up like every other entity of hell, a puppet for entertainment, and encore is just hell toying with it, ive been thinking about it for a little and with the eye reveal in the death screen, it makes me think about it even more

personally i think whats more likely to be true IF they are canon is the encore levels are instead the layers of hell after all the machines went through and destroyed it. cause theres just no way v1 did THAT much damage to the layers
