Rocket Riding in the Cybergrind
I've seen clips of people very consistently start rocket rides mid-fall when they get knocked off the CG arena, I haven't the slightest clue on how to rocket ride apart from when starting on the ground or when moving from one fired frozen rocket to another
Are there any guides or certain moves I can follow? I want to maximize my efficiency in getting back onto the platforms when i run out of all options.

Currently, falling off or F%#!kING MINDFLA- the absolutely perfectly desgined "mindflayer" enemies (and the occasional HM/SM cross-map snipe) are the only thing stopping me from finally reaching wave 30 to hit that checkpoint, and I feel like learning about the rocket launcher further can help that.

an easy to learn way is to use the grappling hook
if you are falling, then grappling a rocket will make you ride it, but you HAVE to be falling, otherwise it will blow up on your face
just try it out on sandbox, get high up, fall down and shoot a rocket, after you shoot it try to grab it with the hook, easy enough.

I saw this too, was going to try it some time but have yet to, thanks for the clarification.

Though, I did see someone (also mid-fall) start a rocket ride with no whiplash usage what so ever, that kinda interests me a bit more

yeah there is more ways to do it but also harder to pull off, I think you have to aim down a bit, freez and shoot, dash and slam and unfreeze but really clearly, idk tho I am not that great at rocket riding either

-Activate freeze mode on the rocket launcher
-Dash
-Shoot a frozen rocket
-Unfreeze it as quickly as possible

It takes a bit of getting used to, but it isn't as hard to learn as you'd expect. Just don't shoot the rocket too soon; wait until the dash is almost finished. And look down slightly when you perform the inputs. You only need to look 5-10⁰ down and you'll be good. Practice it a bit in sandbox, and you'll eventually be able to do it extremely consistently.

i did some practice in the sandbox after this and to me it seemed more accurate to say that the rocket lets you ride it only if you're above it, if you're falling and grapple a rocket above you it just explodes you. thing I found are that it's very consistent if you shoot a rocket directly down mid-fall, freeze it after some time and either try to land on it or grapple from above, though this may be tricky in the CG given the limited fall distance.

otherwise, I also found that if you shoot a rocket in a certain direction as you're going upwards in air, you will almost always start riding the rocket immediately. So maybe you can do a risky overpump and quickly switch to the rocket launcher to get a ride started
