No multiplayer.
only to find out there is 0 multiplayer, and 0 intention there of.
Which is, of course, fine. As the developers & designers etc, it's completely up to you what and how you create. (I am one myself, so I feel you)
but I have to ask, just looking at this game alone, before even getting to the actual store page, as in while it was loading etc, the only thing I could think about was how amazing those games were as the utter definition of PvP FPS "everything".
Seeing as you specifically state (forgive my paraphrase), it being an homage to the 90s shooters and similar, How is this intended and designed to be a Single Player game with 0 multiplayer at all when it's the multiplayer which made the FPS' of the 90s the amazing games they were.
No one played Unreal * for the story... Quake 3 Arena, Tribes, etc.
It was those LAN competitions we had back then are what paved the road for FPS ESports and Gaming Organizations now.
I mean no offense in anyway, shape, nor form, I mean this as a legitimately honest question.
I am very curious as to how;
"ULTRAKILL is a fast-paced ultraviolent retro FPS combining the skill-based style scoring from character action games with unadulterated carnage inspired by the best shooters of the '90s. Rip apart your foes with varied destructive weapons and shower in their blood to regain your health."
makes for a purely Single Player intended game. (does "character action game" mean something specific to your past gaming history maybe?)
It's like literally pointing to MP BigHead InstaGib mode and saying Single Player is the intention.
Why is that so? What made this become a purely Single Player game? I would think something like this would have MP being built side by side w/ the campaign as an "extra".
As a fellow game player, lover and developer, I am honestly curious as to what or why you folks made the SP Only decision?
Thank you in advance for understanding both my curiosity and "misinterpreting the synopsis".
Not gonna lie, I honestly wish I could spare the money so I could stream this right now.
(presuming it's not under NDA ofc)
Thanks again for your time and patience, and I can't wait to see what more you all have in store for this game.
Character Action (aka Stylish Action) is a subgenre of action games (usually 3rd person) that focus on combat depth first and foremost, such as Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, God Hand, etc.
&
^ couldn't have possibly given a better answer.
--Actually that's what I was thinking of, specifically Gears of War actually, but those are great examples as well, (Bayonetta is still one of my fav games ever, Elize Dushku, who does the voice, is from Boston, my home city)
(Let's hope I got the re-quotes right, lol)
and thank you very much for your answer, I appreciate your taking the time, as well as explaining why so clearly.
hopefully people will use search, see this, and never ask again :)
ok I need to ask out of pure curiosity, but did just accidentally mistype "God of War" as "Gears of War"? Because I don't think Gears of War would typically be considered a character action game by pretty much anyone. If Gears of War is what you meant however, then I'm extremely curious to hear what your reasoning for that is.
A friend of mine told me you had taken down a couple of them.
Who tf is your friend?
