Why buy this when the dev is ok with pirating it?

To put it in simple terms:

• If you're poor and you're pirate it: it's a valid alternative;
  
• If you can afford the game and you pirate it: you're a cheapskate.

It's like taking anabolic steroids: there are conditions where it's ok to take them (like osteoporosis or hypogonadism), but if you don't fall in those cases there's no excuse for using them.

- why would I buy one of the best fps games of recent years when the devs are okay with it?

it has nothing to do with the devs being ok, nothing you're just making an excuse for pirating,
If you want a game you should buy it and If you can't afford it or live in a third world country then you pirate it's as simple as that
aside from supporting the devs if you're familiar with steam and own 850 games on it you should already know the perks of buying games on steam, like workshop, cloud save, online features, instant and easy downloads and updates and more. It's so much better than a pirated copy, so you shouldn't have even said this in the first place.

the dev is only ok with piracy in the sense that he isnt going to go out of his way to prevent piracy and doesnt mind people who cant afford the game pirating it, you could afford 850 games (if those games arent gifts that is) so you have no excuse

plus, pirating games also has a risk of malware, since you arent getting the game from the dev, youre just getting it from some random website that could be bundling malware with its games and youd have no idea, theres no reason to pirate in this case

he never completely allowed piracy. if you cant afford it, especially in a crappier country with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ economy, its understandable and its okay. if you can afford it and you actively pirate, especially from indie devs, then youre a cheapskate.

also, the game doesnt change too much in a legitimate copy, mainly stuff pertaining to steamwork's api (leaderboards and stuff), and also the fact that you wont get any updates unless you wait for the next and new torrent to come out.

Malware is impossible to have in pre-downloaded files. You'd have to be a pretty bad pirate to get malware.

you arent getting the files directly from the developer, youre getting them from some random guy who decided to rip the game files and upload them to the internet, you have no idea if the files are completely unmodified or if theyve been tampered with, you just have to go off of intuition and what other people say about the site to know if what youre getting is safe, you can never know for certain

i have no idea where you got this "Malware is impossible to have in pre-downloaded files" thing, since its really easy to inject malware into a game and just pass it off as the real deal

i know my way around the seven seas mate, im from latin america, piracy is a nessesary skill to learn in order to play video games over here, and as such, ive slowly learnt what sites are malware and what sites arent, and ive also learnt that no sites are ever truly safe and that every time you download any pirated game youre basically just gambling that what youre trying to download is safe, there are tools to try and minimize the chances of getting malware (such as virustotal and trusted sites list), but youre never gonna be 100% safe

i did my research long ago, now you do yours

I have done my own field research, never have I ever gotten anything. Simply avoid the ads and nothing happens. I have done a lot, the only download that has malware there is the minecraft one, as they got that off of another site (Minecraft is not on steam). Please, prove to me something is wrong.
