What do you think will happen at the end? Personally, i believe that we see Gabriel die out. Then we enter the hellevator and it collapases and it just explodes lol. Then a new layer named heaven :)

If there's a new layer then that's not the end.
Currently the story is heading in the direction of Hell simply running out of meat to throw around and everyone dying below Heaven
What Gabriel does or does not do doesn't particularly matter as is, he's a side character, you're a novelty, Hell is the only character that particularly matters

you kill Gabriel but then Hell itself decides to directly intefere and you have to run through a gauntlet of the most memorable levels (excluding bosses) in each layer but everything is collapsing around you

I think it will happen personally.
My theory is that we were watching recordings hinted at by the "Insert disc" screens after beating gabriel and it just ends with a "it was just a dream" style ending.

I kinda think The ending will be left ambiguous

though what i'm sure will happen is that after defeating gabriel he with the last of his embers Manifests as a Golden arm (Like in devil may cry where after beating bosses they turn into weapons) and we get it to use it for NG+

V1 dying of starvation in 9-2 makes a lot of sense but it's very predictable.
If Hakita wants to do something else it better be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ epic.
