Is Saw shotgun overpowered? (Red shotgun)
Because it is good for both attack and defense even for crowed control in my opinion.
1.Revving the shotgun makes filth and soldiers almost unable to touch you in your direction, it also works fairly well with The Marices: hook + Timed Saw + shoot + red arm will kill it immediately although its actually pretty hard to time it. (Saw does a surprising amount of damage) making it good for both attack and defense
2.When revved up the pellets does really high damage too and the saw will go through enemies which makes it pretty good at crowd control.
3.If you run into a crowd while revving you will heal up super fast and because the saw actually does very high damage you can kill them quite quickly too, the best part is that revving takes just a second.

Its my favorite weapon.

its good at many things but not excellent at anything, and it doesnt have any synergies to help with style and overall fun factor

you could compare the weapon to something like pre-rework alt marksman. both weapons show that this game favors specialist weapons with niche usecases than stuff which is generally good but are balanced so that their general usecases arent overpowered

There are many more cheaper solutions to these problems and this is ineffective. On harder difficulties, this becomes apparent.

Sawguns, nukes, midair rocket launcher explosions and the alt sharpshooter do this better.

On higher difficulties hard damage makes tanking with it impossible due to hard damage and lack of style.

Sure, it's nice against maurices, virtures and to just top your health up, but there are more options that do it better. I only use it vs virtures or hideous masses, as on the hideous mass it can penetrate through weak points many times.
Not the worst weapon out there, but lack of synergies and standalone quality make it underwhelming.
Here are a few simple techs and weapons that overshadow the sawed-on:
The sawguns when combined with magnets decimate entire rooms, creating a large area of free health and damage, also melting bosses. Not only that but once a full trap containing 3 magnets explodes you should have 6 saws and an overheat saw ready to go again.

The jumpstart nailgun, when combined with saws, creates a monster. High damage, large aoe and large style gain at the cost of having to use a nailgun, have a sawtrap nearby and being careful with movement.

Nukes can decimate all enemy types with a large red explosion and remove all projectiles anywhere near you.

The alt shotgun does the same damage as an electric railcannon in half the cooldown time at max charge, healing you decently. The pump alt can also create red explosions, which do less damage than the original pump and can be avoided with a slide dash.

With all three revolver alts, you can get decent all-range healing and damage, with added weakpoint targeting. The non-alts are dying to power creep so the alts are far better now.

Nukes are way to costly, I like the green rail gun cuz of my crappy play style, I have a crappy "Tank Damage close quarter" Play style that cost me a lot of style meter and causes more grey health to happen :(( Its kinda why I like that weapon cuz I can get close to them and heal. I made lots of changes on my keys to make more shortcuts for curtain weapons.
Question: How do I deal with Marices in cybergrind better, they are like my bane on this game dude parrying them is kinda hard.

Learn to dash, you are invincible while doing so and parries get all health back. Dash into your parries.

As for maurices, there isn't much you can do to kill quicker unless you want to start using resources on them (bad idea) but the alt shotgun can instakill them and shotgun swapping is powerful. Parrying them that close up is easier than anywhere else, too.

Play how you want, this is just how I feel about the red shotgun.

Hell I hate the alt shotgun

no, not really
don't get me wrong, i love the sawed on shotgun to death. but its best use is serving as a discount sharpshooter because the unchainedsaw damage is ridiculous (i can easily kill a sentry by KBing the saw into the ground to make it hit twice)
every single use case you described can be done by other things better, sure, revving your saw makes you untouchable by filths coming from the front, but so does killing them with a regular core snipe
sure you can kill a mal face with the saw, but you can also do that with the firestarter, or regular shotgun swapping
sure the saw helps you heal, but so does every other weapon

Yes, but only because all shotguns are because of projectile boosts.
I'm the biggest fan and defender of red saw but the saw itself isn't that strong. If you want to trivilalize trash mobs running at you use a sawtrap; its better. The saw is very slow in comparison.
It can do very high burst damage, but most of the methods to do this only really work v stationary enemies (ie sentries, sword machine can be killed trivially with red shotgun) OR multiple tanky enemies very close together (because the saw gets slowed down by their hitboxes and but continues to do the same damage per tick) which is just very rare to see

it's not that rare if you play wave 35+ cybergrind, but in that case you'll probably opt for spending an electric railcannon charge to either do a railcoin or abuse +CONDUCTOR

True probably I don't play square map grind
