What I do is: use crack.
But know that nails do more damage to him, so triple nail magnet + overheat nailgun is really good against him.Also, spam your boosted shotgun pallets whenever possible.
But I really recommend that you use the rocket launcher against him.
Anyway, that's it for my tips.

honestly your best bet is just to be moving around, obviously knowing gameplay techniques work but gabriel likes to do a lot of staged moves, so just move before he hits you and you should be safe for surviving. You can easily melt his health bar too, just blast the ♥♥♥♥ out of him with nailgun and magnets.

Abuse the hell out of projectile boosts and ricoshots, slide and jump around to keep the multiplier up, try not to get hit by his attacks.

Go for the railcoin during his intro, that should grant a ton of style points and cut his health down a good 20-30 points (about half his first health bar).

You can parry Gabe's projectiles if you want some extra style and damage
