How to use a xbox controller with this game?

I'm trying out the demo but didn't see any options to enable my Xbox controller and it doesn't seem to activate automatically like most games with "full controller support." Is this feature available in the demo and how do I activate it? Thanks in advance.

For most games on steam, youre gonna need to go into the properties (right click the game on your library and press properties), then enabling steam input, because otherwise steam only recognizes a few controller for some reason
