ULTRAKILL
Is this game viable with a controller?
I am a console gamer at heart and as such don't generally play games without full controller support. Seeing that Ultrakill does in fact have this I was excited... Until booting up the demo. From what I could tell there, you couldn't do everything the Keyboard player could (I couldn't figure out how to sprint) although the aiming worked surprisingly well (Still never going to hit that stupid coin though). The reason I asked this is because Doom Eternal is one of my all-time favorites and Ultrakill has been recommended to me as the next big fix no matter where I go. For those that will inevitably tell me to just suck it up and use a mouse and keyboard, I have this response; Firstly, apart from a trackpad I don't have any mouses, since they keep disappearing from my desk and I can't afford to get another one, and secondly, my muscle memory is terrible; I can't even remember all the main keys in something like Paladins despite years of keyboard play.

Bonus question:
Does this game have good verticality?
In eternal you could FLY across stages, but you could also FLY high up into the air and stages weren't just focused on a long sequence of rooms, but instead more open areas where you could climb an launch yourself pretty high and it made traversal REALLY fun; Is any of that a big part of Ultrakill?

Thanks in Advance!

just answering the bonus question, it has good verticality but I could see how it might be difficult for a controller player to utilise

Idk, about controler support, but just to answer one question. Ultrakill has no sprinting, so you're not missing out on that

It has full gamepad support and it's definitely playable but far from ideal. Hitting coins or smaller enemies is a pain. If you turn up the aim assist a little bit it becomes a lot more bearable, I normally use 5-10% when playing on my Steam Deck. At that point it's definitely viable.

I would say the game is pretty vertical, there's a whole host of different ways to traverse levels, including wacky ♥♥♥♥ like riding your own rockets around or using multiple explosives to launch yourself across basically the whole level. I was able to beat quite a few of the game's levels in under a minute just from wacky movement tech.

It has full Steam Deck support so yes.
Funny enough, the game even has autoaim, but I don't see a reason why controller would be bad. You can play Doom and Apex on controller so... Every PS owner plays shooters on controller

Well if anything you could also set gyro controls (if you have a dualshock 4/dualsense) using steam's built in before you start the game to play, too, that can help a lot.

Edit: Someone actually P ranked minos with only a single Joycon, same as P ranking P-2

Honestly I'm surprised I can't find single controller user out there (not steam deck) who managed to get this game to work well using a controller. I'll try it myself for a bit and just refund if doesn't work
