Are secret missions part of the lore?

I just played 3 secret missions and when playing the mission that refers to dokidoki, I was left wondering if it is the fear of death that torments V1 in normal gameplay

By themselves - they are not canonical for the story, but the Testaments in the end are canon and part of the lore.

I think rather than a fear of death its just V1 (or any of the other machines in the game) doing there designed purpose, and to do that you need 2 things, 1. Blood so you dont run out of fuel, and 2. Not being destroyed by some random guy who says "Be gone" and "This might hurt"
